Knew I wasn't getting enough fluids :/ (tmi-ish)
Like the title says, I knew I wasn't drinking enough water because it makes me nauseous.
Today, after talking with my surgeon's staff, I went to a gynecologist. Just as I thought, UTI and a yeast infection. Great. The UTI is in part because of the catheter and because I'm getting very little water.
My nurse's direct quote "your pee is terrible- the worst I've seen in a while" yikes.
So here's a warning: drink your water! Not worth the struggle.
Also, fingers crossed my surgeon approves the antibiotics I need to take.
I don't want to get too personal, but get ahead of the yeast. I had an oral and skin yeast infection post-op. Skin is still an issue 8 months later.
I searched these boards and found it's more common than I expected, however not on any medical search engines???

Yikes! Thanks for the advice. It's no fun so I definitely don't want it to get out of hand.
You have a good start on kidney stones too. Drink, drink, drink!!!!

Ugh kidney stones, that's what I'm worried about. :/
i was hoping sucking on ice would be enough, sadly it wasn't. Fortunately, most of my nausea it gone so water is a ton easier today.
It's a vicious circle. Dehydration makes you nauseated. Being nauseated makes you drink less. On and on.
Get fluid in any way you can. I had 149,248 sugar free popsicles that first couple of months. Jello is basically fluid. Anything you can.

1 day after returning home from my WLS I ended up in the ED with a (Dr.'s quote: "Raging UTI!). Here's my TMI-ish...The infection was so bad that it wrapped itself around my testicles and twisted them then they got pulled up into my abdomen. They had to manually pull my testicles down and untwist them. I ended up on IV antibiotics in the ED then oral at home. So as you said the moral of the story is Drink enough fluids!!
I try to get at least 150oz of fluids a day. I'm working on getting more than that.
Good luck with everything!

That's...that's possible??
Right in this moment I'm abundantly thankful I'm a girl. Yikes!
But for real, that sounds miserable. Sorry you had to go through that. It's so hard when your stomach says no more water, but the rest of your body plots to destroy you if you don't give it enough. Lol.g
Oh my gosh. I'm not sure what the female equivalent of that would be, but I can guarantee if that would have happened to me I would have passed out.
uou deserve an award. Haha :)
