My Hysterectomy went really smoothly. One night in the hospital, and 5 weeks later we were moving. I did most of the packing, sans any lifting of anything... but I felt good enough to stuff a ton of boxes full of stuff.

I hope it's as uneventful for you as well

I've been MIA mostly due to work and the whole living in two cities thing that is my current life... but I've been tracking on MFP at least!

QOTD- I've managed to eliminate the pre-sneeze "ahhhh" part and my "choo" is medium loud but without a any vocal cord component (loudness is from the force of the sneeze).

I had an off-site meeting all day Thursday. I packed a protein bar in my purse in case there were no protein foods for the breakfast (there weren't) but did pretty well for the lunch. Friday I worked from home and was able to make due with a combination of eggs, cottage cheese, sugar free jello and sashimi :) Over the weekend I was helping a friend with a flood damaged house - so lots of exercise using a hammer and crow-bar to pry loose moldy particle board that had been glued to duct work. It was all overhead and man do my arms and back ache! It was the first time I have done any real work since my surgery so it felt good, but even at 7 weeks out I'm still getting tired easier than normal. My friend had the VGS about five years ago, so he and I split a delicious grilled fish dinner on Saturday night, and Sunday we grilled some salmon and steak. Even with my meat/fish based meals I didn't make my protein goals either day. Yesterday I ate a protein bar at night to at least get close.

7 weeks post RNY/ 183 lbs/ weight loss diet

B- Dannon light Greek yogurt

MS - Decaf Coffee with cream and splenda

L- 4oz Tuna/Salmon sashimi

AS- tuna pack

D- 1/2 cup Cottage cheese with 1/2 scoop whey protein powder

ES- sugar free jello pack

Total Calories- 537 Carbs - 27 Fat - 16 Protein - 70

QUESTION! Last week someone said that this close to my surgery (six weeks out last week, seven weeks out now) I shouldn't be able to eat 4 oz. of protein at meal. Is this because my body can't digest the protein out of such a large amount, or because my pouch shouldn't hold 4 oz. of food? I'm eating 3 to 4 oz portions of protein per my Bariatric Center guidelines.

I couldn't physically eat that much dense protein at only 6-8 weeks out.

I have only now started eating 3.5-4 ounces of protein, and even then my eyes are bigger than my pouch (thank goodness).

I think my guidelines may have said 'up to' 3-4 ounces... but my 'up to' didn't work in reality for me.

Did you feel over full? Or was it like a 'dumping' thing where you felt nausea? I hate to think that my slow eating and complete chewing is wasting (expensive) protein by simply pushing it out of my pouch before it is properly digested for the next stage.

I get a full feeling if I eat past my pouch size for sure - It seems to be right around half a cup. I try hard to avoid having that feeling. Last night I had Hummus with sprouted grain crackers for dinner instead of the cottage cheese and protein powder. I ate five crackers, each one with 1 1/2 tsp of hummus, over about 45 minutes. I never felt overly full, but about an hour later I felt queasy from what I am assuming was the carbohydrate****ting my intestine. When I've eaten a protein bar (which I still do to fill in any protein gaps), if I eat more than half a bar at one time I get "dumping" complete with the sweating and extreme nausea.

As I look at these menus, I feel like magic must be happening to get the protein up as high as people get it, while still keeping the portions and calories so small! When I use protein powder I always mix it with a protein food (usually yogurt or cottage cheese) and it's generally almost dry just to keep it dense enough to fit in my pouch.

Hello all -

Thanks for starting us out this week Daisy.

Still have not gotten my yard sprayed for weeds. I decided to come home after work and make macaroni salad for my best friend and for my dad. I'm making it for my friend because it's her birthday and she requested a bowl, and my dad loves it but won't ever make it for himself. Anyway I got up this morning to rain so yard won't get sprayed now until I get off work Friday morning :(

I had a foot Dr appt at 10:00 this morning and they called at 8:15 and asked if I could come in at 9:00 because they had a cancellation. I was still in bed when they called so I hit the floor running today. Went to appt. , went to visit my dad and bring him his macaroni salad, then ran to the cemetery in the sprinkling rain to drop off Mother's day flowers. Then ran several errands. Now to get laundry finished and my meals ready for the next three work nights.

Then to my friends for her birthday dinner. I bought the stuff...she gets to grill it...lol

2 month after surgery Appt tomorrow with Dr and Nutritionist in the morning and then working night shift in the evening.

QOTD: I am a horribly loud sneezed. I try to warn my friends and family either by saying sneeze or by clapping a couple times (if I have enough time before it blasts out). Believe me I can not make them any quieter...I would love to. I come by it honesty though, my mom sneezed just like I do.

L - 1/2 cup cottage cheese

D - 4 oz pork chop, 3 small stuffed portabella mushrooms

Hope everyone has a great week.
