Prayers for your Mom Amy, I sure hope you all get some answers soon.

I think the gym is an awesome stress reviler, if it works go for it.

Good morning everyone!

Daisy, thanks for heading up the thread!

QOTD: I think I am a pretty average sneezer. I feel it coming, it tickles my upper nose, and then, a little a-a-a-then-a-big-CHOO! My mom, on the other hand, just kind of makes a big ginormous BUH! sound. I laugh just thinking of it because she is such a polite and proper soul.

It has been long since I have posted regularly. I had my FHL-to-Achilles transfer surgery mid-February, and it has been a slow and consuming recovery. Started PT 6 weeks ago. Just last week, I was able to be completely out of the boot cast, and I do not need crutches now. Hooray!

I am still very sore and very weak, lots of swelling, but starting to get back to things. They said that by about 5 months after surgery, I would be better than before the surgery, with 12-15 mos for full recovery. Since the surgery addressed a long-standing, chronic injury of 7 years, my healing/strength are slower than average.

Bad news: I am now up 7 pounds above the top of my comfort range. I had challenges getting on the scale regularly during my 3 mos of down time--that big heavy boot cast--so much effort to get around all the time--so much effort to get dressed or undressed--the scale being on our main floor (husband wants it there), where I would be only after getting dressed and putting on the cast--blah blah excuses. By last week, when I could finally really weigh, I was aghast at the real numbers (not the estimates I had made when in the cast), angry at myself and a little in denial. But I have owned up to the reality of the problem--coming here for accountability--and I am striving to return to my healthy routines.

Being sooooo sedentary since the surgery has been necessary and there was no other option really. But the stress eating and boredom eating and return to bad habits--those I should have monitored and done better at.

I am also 2.5 years past surgery--just the time when, statistically I guess, regain seems to be a problem because malabsorbtion wears off and it is easy to return to old habits. When I got the surgery, I swore I would stay the course. I did not want to be a statistic *****gained! I want to be a success story like so many of the vets who post here. I do know that many vets have had regain and taken it off, so I can use them as my examples. Overall, I am somewhat angry with myself, and a little discouraged, and having to face myself. But aware that it is something that I can address now, before it gets out of hand. The scale really is an honesty tool, and I am glad to be able to use it well again.

Today I am returning to clean eating: high protein/vegetables (70/30). This is challenging after allowing so many other things in over the past several weeks. I have also committed to return to tracking my eating. Yes, that was another downfall. I believe that as I return to the clean eating, to tracking and weighing and self-awareness, and as I start to build up my activity again, I should be able to lose the extra pounds.

I am also putting little signs up in food-trigger areas of the house, with some motivational reminders, like a list of NSVs, and words that remind me of who I want to be.

Today's menu:

Gouda cheese and grape tomatoes

Steak and roasted asparagus.

Meatballs, steamed broccoli.

Snack options if needed: boiled egg; Swiss cheese with deli ham and pickle

As always, drinking lots of herbal teas and Crio Bru (with unsweetened soy milk as a creamer). This ends up being a cup a day of soy millk, which I do intend to also measure and track.

I've posted this photo before. Because yesterday was Mother's Day, I am posting it again in honor of my lovely mother, who is 85 this year, and is such a great example to me still. How lucky I have been to have this special person in my life.

Good morning DD2 and menu crew! I had a talk with my wife last night and she reminded me that my WLS journey is most important. I have been getting lost in my new duties... donkeys, goats, mucking out stalls, working on our website, fighting with the county... and forgetting to put on my patches, drink my water, and watch my carbs. So back to posting every day for me. I will not continue with my day until I have posted my menu and checked in. Thank you DD2 for taking it this week. I, for one, need this accountability.

QOTD: loud sneezer here.

Sometimes there's a bump in the road... and looks like you're over this one!

Take care of yourself first... then all the donkey's... goats... and barn work!

Yay on the refrigerator!!! That will help tremendously with your eating habits!!!

I am really glad you are here and really glad your wife had a talk to you! She is 100% right, you did not come all this way to start having problems like dehydration, vitamin deficiencies. Carbs well you know what do to and I know you can do it, you have been very successful so far, get back on that horse (Donkey LOL) and get back to plan. Your health comes first or all this is for nothing.

I better see you back here all this week!!!

YAY for a refrigerator, that's exciting!

Love a brand new refrigerator ;). I ate exactly on plan today, with the exception of adding 10 almonds. Nice day staying on track! Just gotta get up and do it again tomorrow...

who says you have to change the hot chocolate? if it works keep at it. Everyone is going to start to turn their AC on and so you might be cold and a nice warm drink might be nice!

What a lovely weekend!

Good morning everyone.

I have no idea what to expect from a menu perspective. This morning I have a 9 am pre-op appointment for surgery Wednesday. I'm planning to just eat ham leftovers from last night's dinner. Obviously there will be coffee and lots of liquid today, but I just don't know what to expect as far as prepping for a hysterectomy.

I tend to be a sneaky sneezer, they just pop out without warning. Not particularly loud, just sudden. LOL

Happy Monday - make it great!
