Morning weekenders!

What's everyone up to ?

Today I'm participating in a 10km walk for Alzheimer's...in the rain...I'm sure it will be fun, but I only realized last night that my rain coat is going to be way too big...

afterwards, we're heading to visit a hop yard to pick up some rhizomes to try growing on the farm!

Also hoping to fit in some baby time! Busy weekend!

Qotd: speaking of growing hops, does anyone have any projects or special events coming up this summer? we have a few projects around the house we want to tackle. It will all hinge on a foundation inspection we need. If it's a patch job, we plan to re grade the front and back yard, and do some landscaping etc. And start to finish the basement. and we also want to strip and refinish our wood floors..and go camping, and we might be heading to NYC for a weekend too with friends! Not sure how we're going to fit it all in!

Menu:

B: protein shake

L/D no idea where the day is taking me, but protein forward as always!

Have a good one gang!

Good morning weekenders!

I'm headed to see my mom in PA for our annual Mother's Day adventure. For the last 10-ish years, I visit and take her for brunch and then to local nurseries to pick up her bedding plants for the year. We both love to garden and it gives us a nice neutral activity to enjoy together. It's supposed to rain, so it will be messy. But it should still be a nice day.

I hope to get in a walk this afternoon after we get home, but it is doubtful. Pool time tomorrow though.

QOTD: We don't have big plans for the summer, but I hope that I can get my vegetable garden growing nicely soon. All of this rain and then the warm weather next week should help.

Breakfast: egg whites with feta cheese

Lunch: something protein but we're eating out so I don't know yet

Snack: Apple Ecstasy protein shake

Dinner: Chicken breast of some kind

Exercise: carrying bedding plants around for my mom!

Good morning! Have a great time at your walk!

Today is all about last minute packing. The forecast keeps changing dramatically every time I look. Gah! I hope they sell clothes in Paris ;)

QOTD: Grim has lots of plans...like painting the house. We also need to retile the upstairs shower. And at my old condo, they are forcing each unit owner to put in new windows for energy savings. So lots to do, and since I am not sure if I actually have a job, I don't know if I can afford any of it. Gah, again!

Last chance to lose 12lbs today before I leave. Hahaha.

B: Fit Frappe Mocha Protein Coffee

S: Boost Shake

L: Turkey Meatballs

S: Babybel Cheese & Pepperoni

D: tbd (meeeeeat!)

Exercise: is shopping exercise?

Vitamins: Patches (Multi, D3 & Iron)

My menu looks just like yours Erin.

QOTD- nothing specific which is driving me a bit crazy. We usually have summer vacations planned. DHs sisters are coming. We know when the one will be here but not the other so I think that's the holdup. We have some more decluttering to do and I have a patio lounger that needs to be painted. Our oldest will be looking for a full time job as well so that will definitely be different. He doesn't start college until January.

RNY Jan 12, 2017 Lost 137 lbs but regained 60.

77 lbs lost and counting!

Losing the regain! I got this!

That's great that you are doing the Alzheimers walk! DH was diagnosed with early Alzheimer's a few years ago and it is starting to take over our life as he progresses. There is a benefit walk here today as well - I'm trying to talk myself into going (it is also going to be rainy here), but the last 2 weeks have been exhausting between my job and DH's many appointments (most 2 hours away)... Edited: Insert Fitness: you inspired me - we are going.

QOTD: We need to pull out some bushes against the front of the house that have gotten way too large and replace them with hydrangeas. I may hire someone though as doing it myself feels a little overwhelming (though DH and I would have done it in the past).

B: eggbeaters and cottage cheese

L: ? (Out for DD's 29th birthday)

D: Shrimp and salad

S: protein bar

Yay! I'm glad you went! We've been taking part the past 5 years or so. It's always such a fun atmosphere (even in the rain!)

i hope you are getting a lot of support with your husband. Friends of our in a similar situation joined a support group for couples. Part of the session they are together, partly separate. Those diagnosed are in one room, and their spouses are in another. Like anything, the only people *****ally understand, are those going through the same thing.

He also attends Day programs now a couple days a week to give her a bit of respite, and opportunity to take care of herself too.

Thanks for your encouragement! It ended up being a decent weather day and we made some great connections. We met the author of On Pluto: Inside the Mind of Alzheimer's (I had met his wife previously). They live here on Cape Cod, are about our age and at about the same point with the disease. DH connected well with him and we exchanged phone numbers to get together for dinner.

The organization who sponsored the walk (Alzheimer's Family Support Center of Cape Cod) runs support groups like what you describe. We are going to our first next week. It is a men's group for those who have Alzheimer's, but a caretaker group runs at the same time in another room.

There are some Day Care programs in our town which are supposed to be excellent and I've been encouraged to seek them out when the time comes. We don't need them yet as DH can still be alone during the day, though he does need help with dinner and pills in the am and before bed.

I'm not sure how today's going to go. My father's memorial service is at 11:00 this morning. I'm feeling fine now, but I'm hoping if things get bad during the service, I can hold it together. I've never lost an immediate family member before. Plus my stepmother HATES my mother, and my mother will be at the service. The thought of this is stressing me out a bit... Afterward we're spending the day at my brother's friends' house with a lot of his other musical friends for a day full of music and food - that part should be fine... Not sure what to expect food-wise, but as always, I have protein bars with me *just in case*...

QOTD: boy, we've had so much going on with my father the last few months that I haven't given any thought to this at all. DH and I realized the other night, though, that now that my father is gone, we can start traveling again (I've been afraid to go anywhere this last year - other than a weekend trip to Chicago or to go to NC to see my father - because, you know, Dad could die. But now that he's gone, suddenly, we can take trips again...). I'd really like to go out to New Jersey again to visit my mother-in-law. She lives about 20 miles from Manhattan, and I haven't been out there in ages. She's planning to move to Wisconsin within the next year or two to be closer to us, so that may be it for our jaunts to NYC. So I should try to get another trip there in while I can. I'd also like to take a few other short trips I've been putting off for a long time. No long ones until my husband is employed full-time again, though. Hopefully that will happen this summer, too.

23 months out (maintenance):

B: L&F yogurt, 2 strawberries, 2 paper-thin (almost!) slices of cantaloupe, baby carrot, celery sticks

S: coffee with half & half, protein shake

L: ???

D: ???
