Ever since my RNY surgery (20 October 2016) my tail bone has been so sore. I know that the "cushion" that I once had is gone but how long should I wait before I see an orthopedic doctor? Any advice is appreciated.

it's a common problem and often goes away....eventually. I have a ****xy pillow on my chair in my office and a second in the trunk of my car.....

I bought a cushion for my car. I am hesitant about buying one for my work chair because we have a history of office thefts and I don't want to keep purchasing a cushion all the time. Where did you buy yours>

I ordered it through amazon.com. This is the model I got, but it's listed as unavailable (I got mine a year or more ago). There were jillions of them, though, several with excellent reviews - so there should be some other good options:

I bought mine at Bed, Bath and Beyond. It cost me $20.00.

Tailbone pain got so bad I had to shower instead of bathing but the pain eventually went away on it's own. So did the extreme cold feeling.

How long did it last for you? I am almost 7 months post op and have passed my surgeon's weight loss goal. Some times it feels like I am sitting on a loose marble (if that makes sense?).

Tailbone pain lasted a short time just like my memory. Maybe somewhere between 3-4 months? I keenly remember when severe constipation hit, though....at 3 months post-op. That problem seems to be a constant issue still.

Common problem -- goes away eventually. :-)

It's not lack of cushion, but the fact the cushion is flopping around compared to before weight loss.

Besides telling you to get a cushion, there's nothing a doctor can do. It's just part of the process we go through. It eventually goes away by 12 to 18 months.

Hang in there.
