Good Morning JB and Menu Family!

Have a wonderful time on vacation, Julia!

I posted my flower pictures last weekend, but since less people post on the weekend, (and because they are SO pretty), I'm going to post them again. My daughter bought me outdoor flowers for Mother's Day! Happy Mother's Day to all the Mothers, including Mom's to fur babies!

Also, the prettiest little bird was on our bird feeder the other day and I tried to get a picture of him. He was brown with a bright orange head and breast. I think maybe he was a finch. The picture is not very good because his head is hidden behind the bird feeder and also it is taken through several panes of glass and a screen, but here he is:

QOTD: I have to say I've LOVED all the jobs I've ever had and can't say any of them were really bad, but probably the most boring job I ever had was a job where we scanned pages and pages of information into a computer. It consisted of lots of pages that were stapled together, so my job was to go through and pull the staples out of the papers so that we could scan them. I once saved all the staples I pulled out from a couple days and put them in a jar just to show how many staples there were.

B: prosciutto & mozzarella sticks

L: lettuce, chicken, low cal dressing

D: hamburger patty with melted cheese

S: light n fit Greek yogurt

Exercise: Walking Blossom around the subdivision

Have a FANTASTIC Friday everyone!

the flowers are so lovely Karen, what a nice treat! Love the bird on the feeder. And that's a crazy amount of staples!!!!

I hope you get some sunshine - it seems like it's been overcast a lot during the times I've been in Paris, but it may have been the time of year, or just a fluke (or it knew that I was coming....). It's going to be really fun, though - I'm so envious!!

QOTD: it's a toss-up between being a dishwasher at a college cafeteria (at age 14), or one of the years I spent managing a university residence hall. Mostly the dorm-y years were OK, but I had this one year with a really out-of-control floor. It seems like all I did was discipline case after discipline case and bang my head against the wall trying to figure out how to deal with this stupid floor. Miserable year. I switched careers shortly after that...

today is going to be a better eating day. We went to a dinner that my brother's church did for us last night. It was catered by Cracker Barrel, whose food I've never been a fan of - on top of the fact they have pretty much nothing on the menu that works for bariatric patients. As in mostly fried and carby stuff. I surveyed the trays of food before heading down the buffet line, and they came through again - nothing edible by us except for green beans and cole slaw. So I got some of those - plus a couple tablespoons of sweet potatoes, and a chicken breast. I took the skin off the chicken breast and ate about half of it, plus the other things I just mentioned. A few minutes later, up it came. Greasy chicken, I'm guessing. I was going to stop, but then someone brought a couple of plates to our table with one piece of each dessert so we could share them. I took a couple of bites - of each of them. Most of those were homemade and pretty good, but I had WAY too many calories. I was really mad at myself.

DH said he was up half the night and still feels like crap this morning. He had like four pieces of chicken and piles of mac & cheese. He eats what i eat at home (only more of it), so he's used to things like lean meat and vegetables. And not gynormous portions. I'm sure he has a ton of grease sitting in his stomach this morning. Ugh. Hope he starts feeling better soon...some of my cousins are arriving today (for the memorial service), so I hope DH is not stuck in bed all day!!

23 months out:

B: Greek yogurt, 1 T granola, 2 T sweet potatoes (leftover from last night)

S: coffee with half & half, protein shake

L: ?? Something very light and harmless. Maybe even a protein bar depending on where we are at the time

D: BBQ tonight. I'll have some of that (pulled pork) and some cole slaw

exercise: yoga

The forecast keeps getting better every time I look so I am hopeful! It can't be worse than the 50s and overcast rainy awful pattern we have been stuck in, here. I could see my breath in the car this morning...

Hope you both are feeling better today!

I'm sorry for your hubby :( My BF is the same way - since we eat at home 98% of the time, he's not used to awful greasy stuff. He actually gave me a huge compliment - we had burrito bowls from Chipotle one day (where he used to eat like 5x a week before me) and he said "you know, Chipotle doesn't even taste good anymore, now that I am used to your food, like, this isn't even fresh or good". When we eat out we marvel at how large the portions are and how much grease they use!

my hubby eats the same food as me too so when he eats "off plan" he suffers some serious stomach upset as well. And every time he does he swears up and down he won't do it again until a bucket of KFC is in front of him and then all bets are off LOL

Will be thinking of you this weekend and your family, HUGS

YAY Friday!! I hope you have a great time in Paris.

I recently introduced my daughters to macaroons. We got some from a local farmers market and my 9 year old ate and declared "those taste pretty good, but I bet I could make them better". I keep trying to steer her into learning to cook meats and veggies, but all she wants to do is bake. *Sigh*

QOTD: Maybe it is just that it is Friday and I am burnt out, but right now I would say I am in my worst ever job. I work as a liability adjuster for a nonstandard auto insurance company (think $25 a month and no drivers license required). Essentially I am the person who determines who is at fault for an accident so I am never able to make everyone happy but I am frequently able to make no one happy. To add to that we recently re-located offices so now instead of driving 10 minutes to sit and get cussed out I drive over an hour on a good day (sometimes up to 2 hours just one way if traffic is bad). I am hoping to try and find something outside of insurance after the surgery, but it is hard to find a job outside of my current field that starts close to my current pay. I've been doing this for 7 years now so I have built up a good amount of "experience pay"

On a side note....anyone in the Dallas area looking to hire an overweight introvert. I have a lot of experience dealing with "irate" customers on the phone ;).

Friday Picture: I am trying to get my office organized and I finished up my gaming shelf recently. This has most of my games but I am out of room now :(

Menu:

B: Coffee with soy milk and syntrax powder, cottage cheese

L: Cauliflower puree and pulled pork

D: Bunless cheese burgers and a salad

S: carbmaster yogurt and jerky

Have a great Friday everyone!!!

Jacob that sucks that you hate your current job! Oh man! Lots of jobs up here in Canada if you want to come, but you know its cold up here, we all live in Igloos and eat maple syrup for all our meals so you know pick your poison LOL

Oh encourage your daughter to bake but have her make it for school or the local nursing home or take it the neighbours. Post surgery is when you will have to teach her how to cook a Dad a good steak! LOL

Love your gaming shelf, I see yatzee, such a great and yet frustrating game!!!

Great menu, look at you go Mr Pre Op!

Have a great weekend!

I swear I just responded to you and now it is gone.....grrrrr :D

I used to live in Montana so I can deal with the cold and maple syrup is delicious. Unfortunately my profession is not "in demand" so I would have to sneak in LOL. Not that I've looked into migrating to Canada...especially not on or around November 8th

I do enjoy Yahtzee and actually have Dr Who version as well. The dice cup is a TARDIS. Neither of them get to the table very often anymore though. We have a game that we like to play with the girls that is based on the three little pigs. It is like Yahtzee but instead of pips the dice faces have straw, sticks, bricks, and wolves and you are trying to build houses instead of count points. Its lots of fun and a good bit more forgiving than Yahtzee.
