What's on your Thursday Menu, RNYers?
Good morning! Not quite 5:00 am here but the sun's already peeking over the mountains and it looks to be a beautiful day. I'm going to love my run this morning :)
QOTD: This one just keeps popping up; I love it but it makes me miss my dad ~ "Dancing in the Sky" by Dani & Lizzy
B: 1 scoop isopure zero-carb shake made w/water
L: 3 oz smoked turkey breast
D: 4 oz (before cooking) moose burger; 1/4 C fiddleheads cooked in butter
S: 1 oz No Man's Land beef jerky (this stuff is good, I have it shipped up)
Exercise: 45 min run/walk plus 50 min Insanity Max workout
** Calories: 471 Carbs: 9 Protein: 86
I had to look up fiddleheads... I've never heard of them before... and I'm almost certain I've never seen them before!
What do they taste like??
No Man's Land beef jerky is made right here in Oklahoma! I love it too, and it's become my second favorite beef jerky. The first being Ralph's Beef Jerky, also made here right in Oklahoma! But No Man's Land is cheaper, most especially if you try to ship it. Yum! I have an unopened bag at home...the Hot version.

Fiddleheads are just about my favorite green, and I love all kinds of greens! Alas, they are only available in the spring - they are the first uncurling of early ferns. I always pick them when I go to my folks' house on Kodiak Island but they are also served occasionally here in restaurants. A bit like a delicate asparagus taste.
I used to live in Duncan OK and still have family there - discovered No Man's on my last visit. Now I buy 5 big bags at a time because I have to share! I'll have to try Ralphs next time I go Outside. :)
Happy Friday-Eve! So glad to hear that all is going to work out on the job front-that awesome!

Good Morning JB and Menu Family,
QOTD: Surprisingly I don't have a song stuck in my head at the moment, but I nearly always have something playing inside my cranium, from random Christmas carols when it's not Christmas, to lullabyes, to jingles from TV commercials, to whatever was last playing on the radio, to all kinds of bizarre stuff. LOL!

I randomly blurt out commercial jingles... my kids can finish the verse a lot of the times...
I think it's genetic

So happy for you on the job front- I need some of that job mojo - oh wait, I am having surgery. I am in the mental pit over this and going through the stages of grief. Monday- stunned denial, Tuesday- anger- This was from a car accident!! Not my fault! Wednesday- bargaining with God- why??? Thursday - depression - but have a call into the office manager to ask more questions, and am going to pop in and see the physical therapist so He can hopefully put things in perspective for me...and hoping tomorrow brings the acceptance....
Because I have a trip to Paris coming! i want to focus on that!!
So because I wasn't happy that I was sitting at the high end of my maintenance zone- and was sitting about 5lbs above it for about a month...I changed up what I was doing. I think in this journey there is always a re-evaluation.. What worked losing weight doesn't necessarily work now.
In my new rendition- I added the MCT oil to my morning latte rather than Miralax. Now granted that adds calories that have to be accounted for- so may not work for all of you. So that with the Fairlife milk really makes the latte a meal, and it really keeps me full. I was always at 50+/- most days on the carbs - but now I have also lowered my carbs to 30 nets carbs- but the fiber I am subtracting is only from vegetables- not quest bars or things like that.. and although I had them yesterday I am rarely having protein shakes and almost never bars. Still keeping my protein at at least 100g. So since I started this May 1st- post nephew's wedding weekend-- I have gone from 171 to 162.4 this AM. So this seems to be a good strategy for me when I need to pull back... Happy to be on the lower end going into the Land of croissants and macaroons.
QOTD: When I am on a long road trip... I always play a little 80's on 8 when I need to get the blood flowing... maybe a little Eurythmics- Sweet Dreams are made of these....
B: Latte w/ MCT oil and cashew milk (out of fairlife) Scrambled eggs, turkey sausage patty
L: Tuna, cucumber - been enjoying the mini persian cukes from TJs sliced and sprinkled with salt and Everything bagel spice.
S: Siggi's skyr (like greek yogurt but much lower carb and very high protein) with chopped pecans
Maybe another latte- when I get some fairlife in the house...
D: Shrimp stir fry
S: Protein Hot Chocolate, PB on a spoon
EX: Trainer and maybe pilates 21-day-fix

MCT means Medium Chain Triglyceride.... It is basically liquid coconut oil. They take out I believe the laueric acid so it is no longer solid. It is clear and doesn't have a coconut taste- very neutral. The one I bought at target on the bottle literally says "Liquid Coconut Oil"

Sorry to hear about the needed surgery. Is a date scheduled yet?
Good work shaking things up. I thought I needed to sake things up, but I really just needed to buckle down a bit. The trend I've seen with me is that I can loose at a decent rate with 850cal/90protein/+/-70carbs. I was maintaining at ~1200 calories.
