What's on your Wednesday Menu, RNYers?
Good morning menu folks!
Last night was deep water aerobics again and I do love to be in the water! It makes me happy to feel free to move around and to be so relaxed.
QOTD: The holidays are bad food-wise here, but thankfully there isn't alot of tempting food right in the office. The problem is that there is a Dunkin Donuts, Starbucks, Subway and a cafeteria all with tempting food. The best way for me to eat healthy is to stay away from them, but that means planning ahead and not eating there. That is easier said than done sometimes.
Breakfast: hard boiled egg, turkey sausage patty
Snack: Ice tea protein shake
Lunch: turkey
Snack: cottage cheese with unsweetened applesauce
Dinner: Mahi mahi burgers with riced cauliflower
Exercise: long walk after lunch; maybe a swim after work

All is fair in love and work. My wife works in "academia" as well and the politicking that goes on is like something out of Shakespeare.
I have this this sensitive gut thing going on so I've been trying to keep things simple. Yesterday was plain-Jane oatmeal, baked fish with soft veggies, yogurt, protein shake etc Today will likely be a similar menu.
QOTD New York is definitely a tough place to diet. You can't really walk a block without passing a half dozen places you want to try. I really can't believe I haven't had a slice of pizza in 2 months. My previous record was closer to 2 days. And right now avoiding temptation isn't that hard. But if I'm reading this forum correctly, that does not last forever.
My hard times are at night . My wife is like 98 lbs soaking wet and there's breads, sweets, chips and all kinds of goodies laying around. She can eat a single Madeleine and be fine. I eat a madeleine and my brain says " I'll take 4 more please"

I simply cannot understand the "I'll just have one" subset of the population. I truly do not understand how that works...

or why does one "sleeve" of cookies have like 8-10? Its just not fair, damn those cookie manufacturer *******s
I'm baffled over this as well... and I think that might be a common denominator to us all having had WLS!
Those naturally skinny folks just can eat 'a bit' of this and be happy... Not me... I go sliding down into the bowl and can't stop... or if I don't actually do that, I am THINKING about doing it the whole time!!!
Damnit.

When my son was young and I handed him 3 Oreos - sometimes he would eat 2 1/2 and hand me back 1/2 an Oreo. Even as a kid, who doesn't have room for 1/2 an Oreo???? What alien species did I produce?

I was like you with the pizza. With access to the best pizza in the country!(Yes, NY has great pizza too!) When I was growing up New Haven was just 10 minutes away and since getting married and moving it's only 1/2 hour away. Pizza, pasta and cheese were my absolute worst triggers! Donuts were up there too!
On my birthday I had one bite of a piece of pizza. I was so excited but in all honesty after one bite I was done. It was the craving and smell that was driving me crazy. I won't say it wasn't good but I had no problem with walking away from it all.

I've always lived by the motto "Even bad pizza is pretty good"
Im almost ready to try a slice. It'll be Neapolitan style so thin crust and light on the cheese. I used to always eat the outer crust first. Now I'm sure I won't even touch it.
