I'm shrinking away to nothing...

Ok so I was gonna chime in with all this gold-star advice but first...

What does your surgeon's office say? Like officially. Not the one nurse.

I have a friend who lost too much and he was instructed to start drinking with his meals again (which to me is sorta shady advice but damn if it didn't work. He gained exactly what he needed to and not a pound more! Men...)

But you should take your cues from your surgeon.

Your body will not let you waste away to nothing. It has whole systems dedicated to not letting that happen.

And as others have pointed out, in a few years you are going to look back on this time and long for it. It sounds cheesy but...you will.

Don't worry eventually in time losing will stop and on other side fighting to maintain.

i am 9 years out (rny may of 2008) lost 130 lbs got very low weight and Bmi maintained by gym daily , weighing daily and being always aware. well last 2 year with GE Capital gone and closing shop for most of us I started slipping up 15,20, then 40! Stress! I have lost 5 again and will get the other 35 off!!?

This group has helped tremendously as I did not have a support system.

i invite you to see my pics see how thin and that in 7 years I began struggling. unfortunately I don't have my begin pics Digital to post will have to scan.

How about drinking some protein drinks or make a chili?? I loved chili in the beginning.

None of this is easy at any end of the spectrum but make the best of it and life will get better and better. One day you will be able to eat almost everything and that is when it is hard!

Please don't think I am making light of your situation but gosh I would LOVE to have your problem. I lose some pounds, stall, lose some pounds stall again... Getting there but ever so slowly at this point.

I can't help but wonder if its not the skinny that is the problem as much as you miss your love of food. Could that possibly be part of it? You just sound so sad over the loss. That may not be it at all, just my interpretation.

Please send your hate for food over and share with me :) I absolutely loved it when I had no compulsion to eat at all and eating was a chore. I would have no problem living that way forever.

I sure hope you find your happiness again, I remember how happy you were when we started this process!

I'm still happy. I wouldn't trade this experience for anything. Being thin is a dream!

I got scared yesterday. I panicked about my weight loss. It just hit me that I'm going to be 5'11" and 140. Of course, I won't.

I feel better today. EVERYONE'S COMMENTS REALLY HELPED!. I'm OK now

Hugs to you and GRATS on doing something so many dream about. We are here for you. I am 5'11" and I am at 150 - I want to be at 135!!

Glad you are ok! I will know you are OK in two years (maybe 3) when we are both here and we both are at or below our goals :)

A lot of us are told we are "too skinny" or "melting away." However, we know that people are used to seeing our old MO bodies. What I've learned here is that the body is very smart and our stomachs will heal, and in no time we are fighting every day just to maintain.

You've been around long enough to know that this is usually temporary, right? Nearly every other post is someone years out who is battling regain...

Add a small meal like greek yogurt or jerky and see if that helps you maintain.

It's very common for people who have had rapid weight loss to look gaunt the first year or so. Even with a BMI in the overweight range. My weight just went from the top down so my face looked like it was starving and my ass was still big. Most people see your face first so it looks shocking when they were used to seeing up bigger.

One thing I want to caution about though. I know you hear people talking about how lucky you are and go ahead and eat a cheeseburger and I hope they are kidding but I really hope you stick with healthy calories. Yes a few snickers would be nice but once you go down that road you may not be able to get back.

Up the protein, grab some shakes if you want but leave the fast food and candy alone. It will come back to bite you in your ever growing ass if you don't.

You've been given some great spot on advice. I will add that you may be low in iron and B12 if you are feeling low energy. Consider checking that out.

When I was having serious postop complications at 18 months out I lost down to 113 pounds. My highest weight was 254. I was scared. I started to eat a few Brazil nuts and almonds and this really helped me stop losing. I still use that as my weight gain stratoas I still struggle to keep my weight up almost 4 years post op.

MY husband is 5'11 and weighs 158 pounds. So there is wiggle room and it does take time for your body to settle.

I started at 220 lbs, 17 years ago. I lost 110 lbs in 7 months. Landed me in hospital with dangerously low potassium. Had to start forcing myself to eat. Did alot of grazing over the years. I maintain my weight around 150, loosing 20 to 30 lbs when I get sick. I am healthier than I've ever been. I eat healthy. No sodas in 17 years. Sugar about once every 6 months. I eat protein first before anything else. Hang in there. Your taste buds do come back!
