Hello. . My sleeve revision to bypass is tomorrow at 9:15 a.m. I have a 2 year old that is very loving :-) and I am worried how I will feel after the surgery. I will be inpatient for 1 night and was told by the nurse that her and my husband can stay overnight with me. I know that I cannot lift her but I am worried that I will be so out of it that I will not be able to give her the attention she needs/wants the day of and the immediate days following surgery. My question is, what was your recovery like? How long will i be out of commission? How long was it before you could resume normal activities with them?

I would love to hear from mommies with little ones that still want to be held.

Hey there :) I had my surgery when my son was just about a year and half. He'll be two next month!

Post-op was difficult. My son is the epitome of a cuddle-bug, and it broke my heart not to be able to hold him and cuddle him as he and I were used to. I hired full-time help for the first 6 weeks (as thats how long I was instructed not to lift him) but frankly, by a month out, I was doing great and with the weight loss I had experienced life was easier then it had EVER been, even still recovering from a major abdominal surgery. I would recommend using a pillow to rest against your abdomen so you can still hold your baby when you come home, and try and find some help for the first few weeks. Its tough mama, but you can do it and your daughter will thank you for it down the line!
