What's on your Monday Menu, RNYers?
Congrats on the NSV! I will be 3 years smoke free on July 7 and with the addition of weight loss I feel so much healthier than I have in years. Congrats!

Nothing Tastes as Good as Healthy Feels!
Happy Monday!
QOTD- I use an app called Android Sleep. It has a "Smart Wake up" feature which gauges when you're in the lightest part of your sleep cycle and wakes you up then rather than at a specific time. (always BY your alarm time, but up to 20 minutes earlier if you're in light sleep). My wake up alarm is bird song, which supposedly is what our brains evolved to hear to trigger a natural wake up at dawn... I also use the lullaby feature, using the "night time nature" sounds for the same reason - it's supposed to trigger a natural response and help me go to sleep. The lullaby is mostly crickets/tree frogs with the occasional owl hoot. My Samsung watch connects to the app as I sleep so it tracks my sleep cycles and heart rate for better accuracy. I feel like this app has really helped me train myself to get better, more productive sleep :)
I had a bad weekend food wise, but when I entered it all in, I wasn't over 1000 calories either day. I know a lot of you say you could never have eaten 1000 calories only a month out - but sadly, I can.
My 1 month doctor appt was Friday (technically five weeks out) and it went really well! My official number at the bariatric center was 186, which gave me a 20 lb weight loss for the first full month. I was disappointed but the staff was pleased. I'm meeting with the office NP since my surgeon doesn't have office hours on the one day I'm in town, and she was friendlier this time than last, so I feel better about this arrangement. I'm cleared to eat what they call the 'maintenance diet' but what is really just the unrestricted diet in that I can now eat leafy greens, seeds, apple skins etc... The Nut looked at my food diaries and suggested I keep my calories up at 750, but as I do this on average we agreed I could keep doing what I've been doing (setting my MFP daily limit to 500 for tracking).
I feel some pressure to take off another 40 lbs by my next appt (two months from now) so that I can really leverage this honeymoon period. That would leave me with a total of 25-30 pounds to lose over the following three months which seems reasonable for how long it always takes to get those final pounds off! I'm hoping to seriously up my exercise this week! I didn't bring my bike down with me (I need to tighten the nuts on my bike rack and the seat on my new bike before driving 2 hours on the expressway!) but I will be taking my sister's dog for a walk after work most nights and hopefully sneaking some Pokemon hunting in over my lunch hours ;-)

20 lbs is a decent loss for the first month. I know you read about these people losing 30 lbs the first month, but they're on the extreme high end of the range. From what I can tell by reading people's posts and looking at the data in their signatures, I would say 15-25 lbs is pretty much the average range for first month loss - and you're right in the middle of that!

Hi gang,
I don't feel good today. Its 2 pm and I haven't ate yet at all. I got the rest of my protein drinks winning today. It might be a shake day. I think I'll have my usual omelet and string cheese since I'm getting hungry. The rest of the day will be protein forward.
QOTD I use my phone as an alarm clock. I have two different alarms to take my pills that have to be taken on an empty stomach and can't have food or coffee for two hours then the second one to get up for the day. But sometimes I shut it off and continue to sleep from the second one. Sometimes I wake up on my own.
