Had my surgery on Tuesday
I was weighed on the morning of surgery. When I woke up from surgery and got out of bed for my first walk, the nurse walked me to the scale.
It was up 19 pounds.
The next morning, I asked the surgeon why I had gained 19 pounds and he laughed and said I just needed to pee it out.
To do the surgery they pump you full of water. One gallon weighs seven pounds and they used almost three gallons for me.
It was all gone by the end of the week.

Real life begins where your comfort zone ends
Congrats on a successful surgery. You must be so relieved that he was able to fix all of the issues he found; now you can concentrate on healing and resting.

Hi!! I had my surgery the same day and got released yesterday. The gas is no joke! My Dr doesn't do gas x but some probiotics and miralax. I've been able to get most out. I haven't had a BM yet though so they want me to double the Miralax today.
My only complication was having them manage my insulin needs. The first night my blood sugar sky rocketed and I ended up dry heaving and incredibly dizzy. The Dr put me back on my insulin pump the next morning and things have been fine since.
Every day is getting easier. I'm hoping to get all three shakes in and the water today but it's hard to do. It takes me about an hour to drink 8oz. Plus I'm so tired I can hardly keep my eyes open no hope that passes soon.
Im glad they were able to take care of your hernia. Cheers to us for continued improvement.
Hello,
Congratulations on your successful surgery. How exciting for you that you are beginning your journey. Thank goodness that the doctor was able to repair your hernia.
I just joined the community and this is my first post. I will be attending diet classes, and in three months, hopefully I will be scheduled for surgery. The one thing that I keep wondering about, since you mentioned that you just had surgery, is precisely how you feel at the point that they release you from the hospital.
Do you feel pain, are you drowsy, are you able to walk around fairly easily or are you bent over in pain? And once you got home, can you get out of bed easily or does that process pull on your operation site?
I am going to have to travel far from the hospital to my home, so I just wonder how normal I will be feeling during that trip.

I was drowsy but not in too much pain. However going over bumps during the drive was hard and painful. I can get out of bed ok.
The woman in the room next to me at the hospital was in better shape than I was and claimed she felt fantastic. I do not feel fantastic but I'm not entirely miserable either. It's going to affect everyone differently.
Congratulations. I'm glad they fixed the unknown issues as well.
A lot of the gas is internal, and not digestive. They inflate you so they can do the surgery. So Gas-X might not do a complete job.
Drink, drink, drink! Then walk, and drink some more.
Congrats again!
