Tippy is so adorable in her big purple bed! My babies would have had that treat gobbled up by now, lol.

Well, I'm so glad it's Friday.

I hope they get to sorting out what's going on with the heart monitor, JB. I wore one for a day for a weird heartbeat that was sporadic, back in 2004. They did all sorts of tests, found nothing wrong. All they said was "Yep, it beats an extra one once in a while" and left it at that. It's been fine and pretty rare that it ever happens, but I told my doctor about it, and if it ever gets really concerning we will deal with it, and monitor things in the meantime. The weight loss will only help out my ticker, so I'm just rolling with things and doing my part to take good care of it.

Today I walked out into the monsoon that is spring around here. It's been so wet, I've been considering building an ark. Oh well, I threw on my new rubber boots, the old rubber rain suit and my backpack and hiked the 3 1/2 miles to work. It was a nice walk, though I feel some blisters on my toes. That'll be fun later, there's still the walk home and it's projecting another 2" of rain today. Yay! (insert sarcastic eye roll here)

My menu:

B: Protein shake, 25g/2g

MS: 1/2 cup greek yogurt, and I'm trying a sweetener added in this time instead of fruit, because my little ones finished off the blueberries and strawberries. Better than them eating cookies etc. so I don't mind.

L: 2/3 cup of that beef/barley vegetable soup left over from the crock pot the other day. It just keeps getting tastier as it ages. 119 cal, 2.4 fat, 5.2 carb, 4.4 fibre, 6.8 protein. Not too shabby.

AS: boiled egg but not the yolk, and if I feel like it, one of those tiny cans of spicy V8.

S: I'm not quite sure on this one, but there's chicken thawing in the sink. Probably 1.5 oz of that.

Last night I got home from work to find a 1.5 oz serving of lemon chicken with 2 pieces of broccoli and 2 tbsps of extremely overcooked rice. The clinic said no rice and I don't usually go for that anymore, but it was OK. A bit mushy for my liking and I haven't had it in months so I'm not even sure I like it anymore.

The chicken was awesome.

One thing I've noticed, is I just can't take certain foods anymore. I am hoping it's a cyclical thing because the ones I can't stand the texture or taste anymore is cottage cheese or tuna. Those are protein friends so I've either got to figure out a recipe that works or just plug my nose and go for it.

Remember, no matter where you go.......there you are.

First, Good for you for walking to work in the rain.

Food likes and dislikes are definitely cyclical- especially in the first 6 months.

I love spicy V8- I wi**** wasn't so hard to find the little cans of spicy low sodium. I keep it on hand because it has such high potassium and the low sodium is even higher than the regular.

Yeah that spicy v8 is wonderful! I'm so glad that my zeal for hot n spicy hasn't gone away (yet?). I've always been "the hotter the better" - to a sensible point (which always gets a laugh from my kids, because that sensible point is quite hot). I grow the super-hot peppers as a hobby, and really enjoy that. I only eat them up to Habanero heat level though, the others are just for spices and maybe cooking a little bit. Now with surgery I'll likely back the pepper level down to a jalapeno or birds'eye, maybe cayenne.

The sodium is the only thing that really sucks, but I figure it's not a daily thing. The regular flavoured low sodium ones, I might try and then add some cayenne pepper and see how that goes.

Remember, no matter where you go.......there you are.

I can't find the spicy low sodium v-8 in the can anymore either. If you do find it, it will probable cost an arm and leg!

I can't find in the big container of low sodium v-8 around here in CT anymore. :(

Now I but the regular low sodium v-8 and make it spicy myself. :)

Edited to add that I make it myself.

Have you ever tried Wicked Bloody Mary Mix? I first had it on an Alaska Airlines flight. It has 1 gram more of sugars than Spicy V-8. No idea if there is a low sodium version, but everyone who likes that sort of thing should try it at least once. It's so good, the best I've ever had, and I'm a spicy tomato juice can from way back.

Good for you for walking to work in the rain. Lily and I are frequently seen walking when raindrops are falling too. Pretty sure people in my small town think I'm the crazy dog lady. Food likes and dislikes are definitely cyclical. Even at almost 5 years out I go through stages where certain things taste good and others don't and every so often the likes and dislikes change. You'll most likely get back to liking cottage cheese and tuna again at some point.
