If you think you have an ulcer, keep an eye on your stools. And be aware of any new odors, regardless. Those are both signs, but only for a bleeding ulcer.

crazy that all the people I have told I have an ulcer they all go right to "are you watching your poop?!" Its too funny. But yes I am on "poop watch" 
If you have an ulcer that's beeding a lot, blood in the stool will be obvious. If it's bleeding a little, you may never see it.
But if the bleed is small and high up, your small intestine will actually digest the raw blood as it goes down. If that happens, you will notice an odd odor that you have never, ever smelled before. Unless you are a vampire, of course.
