B: 1/2 cup edge protein cereal with 1/2 cup milk
MS: 1/2 a new quinoa protein bar I found. Not too bad but I'll likely pass on them again.
L: something new today. A shake with a 0% yogurt, 1/4 cup milk, 1 scoop of muscle tech protein powder, and a 1/2 cup of frozen berries.
AS: probably nothing but maybe a 1/2 cup popcorn. It's freezing today so I'm not going out.
S: 1 oz chicken. Maybe steamed broccoli. Again. Glad I like that a lot.
Qotd: I'm grateful at 9 weeks out to be off my cholesterol meds, fitting into clothes I haven't in years, and feeling much better overall.

Dude, I am sorry to be so judgy, but I have to tell you--I could never, ever, ever eat as many carbs as you are having and be successful. You are 2 months post op, and you just listed about a week's worth of carbs for me... I'm not kidding.
I really do want you to be successful, and I strongly recommend that you start entering your food into My Fitness Pal or another type of tracking app, and start looking closely at your calories, protein and carb intake, daily.
There are about a million people on this site who can tell you that their nutritionists sent them home with paperwork and sample menus that look like yours, but that the weren't successful until they kept calories under 700, protein over 70 and carbs under 40.
Again, I don't want to scare you away from the menu thread--I just want to give you some tried and true advice and hope it sticks!
JB, I can appreciate the sentiment behind your responses, but they are judgy. Not just with me, and not just a little bit.
With the exception of the shake, which itself is over 40g protein, I am following the guidelines given me by the surgeon's DAILY sample diet, and what isn't in the menu is approved by the clinic. That's it. No cheating, no crap. And guess what? I'm on the downward track. I'm losing. I use the myfitnesspal app daily, since well before the surgery and I log it ALL. I'm aware of the numbers. My clinic doctor and the team there are happy with my progress, I'm ahead of the curve, and they have seen my app logs. I show them every appointment. I know where you're coming from, but with all due respect, the clinic folks aren't stupid.
My family doctor has taken me off the only medication I was on, and he's thrilled with how it has gone so far.
Since the exercise has been upped, weight has been falling off and now I'm adding team sports in, which will only boost results.
A little stall while body composition and dimensions change, doesn't really worry me. What works for some, doesn't for others and vice versa.
If this is the sort of thing to be expected on this site, I'm happy to go into the background again and be a reader, or not bother altogether. I have support within my own household that I can call upon.

JB is not even remotely judgy. Nothing she said is judgy, its all supportive and with the intent to BE HELPFUL and guide a 2 month post op. Its unfortunate you don't see that. I also posted to you yesterday about eating too many carbs this early out, so I am going to assume you feel I am being judgy as well. If you can't see that JB and I actually care and took the time away from our families and lives to post to you then no problem. For the record I would not eat either of those at 3.5 years out, but clearly at 2 months out you know more than "judgy" me and JB.
You are correct the clinic staff are not stupid, most of them are Masters and PhD prepared or MDs but what the problem is they are very misinformed on what a post RNY gastric bypass patient should actually be eating. By all means take the advice of someone who is book smart not those of us who have actually lived the post RNY life for the last few years. I had surgery at Toronto Western Hospital 3.5 years ago and I am well below goal and wont eat a protein bar or cereal even though it was in my Centre's "Daily eating plan." I am below goal and maintaining a 150 lbs loss because I ignored EVERYTHING that TWH put in their pretty little post op eating plan binder and I followed the ADVISE of the Vets here on OH.
If you choose to leave or just be a reader totally your prerogative but I am not about to stop trying to help/support and guide newbies who eat crap & carbs at 2 months out and then call out people who are just being nice.

One of the things about these boards are the people here care. That is why people post and give advice. They want you to be successful.... I sit in support groups in real life and the people who are further out are just getting heavier.
Yes, they lost initially because you will lose initially no matter what! If you are going to be successful in the long run it is good to develop good habits now. You say you log into MFP... so how many carbs and calories are you having? Eventually it will come back to bite you in the butt. We may not be dieticians but we are people walking this walk... so not judgy... wanting everyone including you to be successful!!!

You, Daisy and NYMom are too kind to try.
Wait until the post 18 months out when it's titled, Never Got to Goal and Already Facing Regain ---or alternatively, My RNY Failed!
Obviously, this poster already knows everything about being successful!! What does he need three long term successfully maintaining women telling him anything??
Stop being judge-y of his bad post-op diet!!

"What you eat in private, you wear in public." --- Kat
Going to post on this even though it might not be wanted. I am almost 8 months out from rny. I tried following my surgeon's menu which wanted me on 100-130 grams of carbs a day. The vets here (including the three *****sponded to you) warned me about increasing carbs to that level. I was really skeptical so I played around with it. I increased carbs... my weight loss slowed down to almost nothing. I reduced carbs to below 50 grams a day. My weight loss picked up. I tried protein bars. They are somewhat like candy if they are tasty, which leads me to wanting more of them. Same thing with crackers, or fruit, or bread, or most other carbs. I finally decided for myself that the vet were right. Now is the time when we will lose because of our surgery but it is also the time to develop different eating habits, and get away from what got us to our MO selves.
I hope you are successful and I know these other wonderful ladies do too. Good luck.
