Good morning! Man is it windy here lately!! Looking forward to that dying down and temps in the 80's next week. Had my appointment with my PCP yesterday and he didn't even know I actually had the surgery! Last he heard from my surgeon was his pre op eval and approval. None the less he was really pleased with my weight loss. I'm loving my workouts, but they caught up with me last night. I am sore from the neck down, lol. Instead of the gym today, I am going to go on my favorite hike and today is a beautiful day for it.

QOTD - Hands down, I want to live at Downton Abby. I would love to be the fourth Crawley sister - not like the others - mean, pathetic or sweet. I want to be the cool one, lol. I would totally be downstairs, hanging with the help.

5+ month post op

b-coffee w/heavy cream and splenda

b2-Italian sausage

l-jerky and meat stick

d-taco meat w/hot sauce

v/l - on track

e-2 mile hike

Have a great day!!

Good morning and Happy Thursday from Los Angeles. Good news/bad news for me also. I got my labs back and I'm happy to say the patches seem to be working for me. Particularly on the iron front. Ferritin went from 178 prior to the patch to 204.6 with the patch. While it's not a huge jump, it's much better to a decline, which was happening since my revision. My Vit. D was at toxic high levels and has now fallen down to a normal range, but I'm assuming my Dr. is going to have me start supplementing again. The bad news is my PTH is still high and climbing and so is my calcium, which is nothing but bad. I guess I'll be peeing into a jug on Sunday since there was a note from my endocrinologist appended to the results telling me to do the 24-hour urine collection ASAP. I fear I'm headed to my 4th surgery in 4 years. But I'm also hoping that they'll get to the bottom of why I feel so lousy all the time.

JBQOTD: I'm with you JB, I want to go to Stars Hollow. I'm currently rewatching the additional 4 episodes that came out last year with a friend of mine who binge watched the series. I forgot how much I loved the show and miss it.

My menu

B: Starbucks egg bites with roasted pepper

L: Citrus marinated chicken/baby carrots

D: Chicken Thighs/Broccoli

S: Skinny Vanilla latte, HB egg, Light and fit, String Cheese, Almonds after the gym (not all of these, but all are available to me)

Cal: 896; Protein: 95g; Fat: 36g; Carbs: 54g (boo) (these totals include all the snacks except for the light and fit, so numbers are subject to change)

Elevated PTH along with elevated calcium levels are clear markers of hyperparathyroidism. Elevated calcium in urine after a 24-hour collection 99% of the time indicates a growth on the parathyroid. a high PTH number along with the high calcium indicates that calcium is being leeched from my bones. I had a bone density scan because of my high lab numbers and it shows I have osteopenia (which I shouldn't because I supplement calcium and do weight bearing exercise). Anyway, if the pee number comes back high, I will be referred to a surgeon who will scan my parathyroid for a growth and, if found, remove it. Fun times.

Your body likes to keep you and your docs guessing. Hopefully you'll get resolution soon so you can feel better.
