Good Day folks! Funny enough JB- I just dropped back to where I prefer to be (193, from 195) and the only noticeable change I've made is not consuming chocolate. Guess I was digging in far more than I realized. I'll miss my sweet, sweet friend! I'm sure you'll get the weight off!

QOTD: I looked into on my own initially, but after my sister had her surgery, she coaxed me a whole lot more to consider it again. My doctors never once suggested it to me. I'm glad I didn't pursue it when I first looked into it- too much misunderstanding at the time and I doubt I'd have been successful.

193.5 today, 23+ months out

M1: 1 fried egg, 4 turkey sausage links

M2: 3oz ham/turkey/cheese lettuce wrap/tomato

M3: 4 oz pork roast, 2.5 oz mashed sweet potato

M4: supposed to be spaghetti- but guess who forgot to take the meat out?!

5'6.5" High weight:337 Lowest weight:193/31 BMI: Goal: 195-205/31-32 BMI

Good afternoon!

I'm doing OK with things, 8 weeks out. I'm not down as much as I wanted at this point, but it's been a fairly steady decline. Over the weekend I somehow put on a couple of pounds, which I can't figure out since I'm on the phase 3 soft foods stage. Not worried about it though, I figure my body is still freaking out.

Today, like most days, it's been according to the plan:

1 Prevacid, 1/2 hour min before breakfast.

B-1 chewable calcium, 1/2 cup bran flakes with 1/2 cup 1% milk, and one strawberry

MS - 1/2 cup cottage cheese (lf) with a few squirts of sriracha because I just can't take plain cottage cheese anymore.

L - 4 melba toasts with 2 tbsp tuna, 1 Vit. D and 1 multi vitamin

AS - 1/2 cup FF plain greek yogurt with 9 blueberries mixed in

S - TBD but likely 1-1.5 oz of chicken and some sort of steamed veggies, 1 Vit. D and 1 Multivitamin.

ES - I don't like them much, but likely 1 oz of cheese if I can stomach it.

Before bed, 1 chewable calcium.

Of course, mixed in all of that is water, water, ugh...water!!

Exercise - I commute daily to work, either by walking or cycling 3.5 miles each way (today I biked it). Plus tonight I'll be either headed to the gym for some weights with a buddy, or going for another 2 mile walk around the 'hood.

Remember, no matter where you go.......there you are.

Hi CarlRay, I noticed a lot of carbs on your menu and want to make the gentle suggestion to cut those out and stay 100% low carb for the next few months while you are still in the losing phase. Bran Flakes and Melba Toast are definitely working against your goals. Take a peek through what other people are eating and maybe you will find some ideas that you like!

I hope you don't mind me chiming in, but trust me--you are in a magical time right now and can really maximize your first year by going strictly low carb :)

I don't mind at all, it's likely a good idea. All of these foods are on my sample menu from the surgeon, so I never gave it much thought. The nutritionist stressed balancing a protein and a carb with every snack or meal.

I might cut back the amounts and boost up maybe the Greek yogurt or something to tweak it a bit. I'm not crazy about Melba toast anyway lol

Nutritionists are notoriously stupid when it comes to telling post ops what to eat... The advice they give is good for a pre-op normie, but our bodies are different.

Do you use an app like My Fitness Pal to track your intake? It's really important to know your totals for the day.

In order to lose, I need to be under 50 cabs a day, so that might be where your gain is coming from. Get your calories under 500, protein over 70 and carbs under 50 and there is no way you won't be losing again, soon :)

Hi...my surgery is Wednesday! I've followed everything to a tee but never quite got on board with quitting caffeine. I was a major caffeine freak about 10 or more coffees, tea, or my big one diet Pepsi. I did give up the Pepsi and have been able to keep it to one or two cups a day. Because I'm now getting nervous about everything now I feel like my still caffeinated self is going to cause some horrible thing during my surgery. My program allows one cup per day do I'm not far from that. Can you tell I'm nervous....obsessing about small details. If anyone can send me encouragement and tell me to calm down it would be very appreciated!

As far as the topic goes: my doctor has

been bringing up wls for about 10 years. I didn't really think it was for me until I read an article in the new Yorker. Also a guy walked up to me in the grocery store and started with I'm not saying your fat but ,(great conversation opener,) snd then told me how wls had saved his life. Did some research and decided it was for me. Nervously yours Nance

If you can find a hobby (reading, knitting, crossword puzzles, painting) or something that might help occupy your mind the next few days. Best of luck to you.
