First post ever

I know this question might sound dumb but has anyone ever gone through the tests in order to qualify for gastric bypass surgery while being pregnant. (Like all the sleep apnea test, blood work, heart tests, physch test, etc). I want to go through the process while I'm pregnant so once I'm done giving birth I could go ahead and get the gastric bypass surgery. My insurance requires me to wait 6 months before I can actually get the surgery and to see if I'm approved. But I'm not sure if they'll make me wait till I give birth. Any help will be appreciated & taken into consideration.

Hey there! I WISH. My doctors wouldn't let me start the process until 3 months post natal, and due to some post pregnancy obstacles it took me about a year. But I had surgery last October, and it has been worth it every step of the way. It is good you are starting now. If I hadn't lost weight I would have continued to struggle to take care of my child. Now I can keep up with a crazy 2 year old! Best of luck, and congratulations on your new bundle :)

I just ask because it would, to me, be a stressful time to take on all the life changes that come with this surgery, while being post partum and having a newborn, depending on a lot f factors of course, like support and your health in general. But if it is your third you know what you are in for. :)

I am not at all critical, as I did not face your particular challenge. However, I would concur that any WLS requires a great deal of focus and preparation, pre surgery and especially post. I honestly think it may be better for you to start the process post-birth, but no harm starting the research early! It's all about health, after all. My best wishes to you in your journey, and of course, all good things for you and your youngest child!!
