What's on your Thursday Menu, RNYers?
Hello everyone,
JB, I'm glad you are going to see the dr. I hope you get an answer. It's nice that you get to spend the day with Grim! He's a hell of a guy!
Just curious JB....how did you come with this QOTD? It sure doe**** home!
QOTD: I was always heavy going as far back as kindergarten. I didn't get teased of all that often but if it did happen my older brother would kick their ass! When I was an EMT working on an ambulance, everyone had nick names and mine was "Lumpy" from the Leave it to Beaver show(if anyone remembers that show). It was all in good fun as these were people that I had been friends with since childhood and some were heavy set as well but none the less it was a constant reminder of what reality was.

I was thinking about how it is that kids even know what the social conventions are! I mean, it is unlikely that anyone is sitting down and telling kids that "fat is ugly" but yet, we all learned it pretty quickly. It is interesting to me to hear how many people were teased by a family member, directly. That was not my experience...I can't even imagine :(
Hi JB I just.posted a note but somehow it disappeared. I'm Nancy the newbie. My surgery is next Wednesday.... I'm really happy and totally scared at the same time. I'm a little on the aged side...67... Anyway I'll probably drive everyone crazy with questions the next couple of days. Really glad.I joined everyone's so nice.
By the way I was born in Boston.both.of my.parents have.passed away mom's from Alston and my Dad's from roxberry. Dad's parents lived in Jamaica plain. My sisters (i',m the oldest of six) lived in Brookline for s long time. Have I driven you crazy yet. I love Boston. My sister Betsy teaches at the park school.
To answer your question my mother started telling me how fat I was early on.. Best of all she would go to the store and bring home size 6 clothes for me ....passive aggressive or what. Later on some kids called me fatasson you guessed it my maiden name was fergusson
I sound like I'm bathing in self.pity. Iwas different...5'10" and about 190. Right now ....I'm 5' 8" starting weight 350. Tell Grimm I said hello...he gives great advice and is also very funny. Nance
Hi newbie Nance, excited and scared sounds about right ... welcome to a great journey! I'm a little more aged than you- Ill be 70 this year... that's the thing about time... it passes... and soon your time will be passing with you getting healthier, able to trust your physical body more and kind of retrain your mind... it's mostly all good!!! Congratulations
