Syntrax Nectar makes a bunch of different flavors. I bought the sampler pack from Amazon so I could test out the different ones and then buy a 2 pound container of my faves. I really like Cappuccino, Fuzzy Navel and Apple Ecstasy. Much better than the usual choc-van-straw flavors.

Protein shakes have probably come along way in 14 years. I think "Premier Protein" ready made shakes are the best bang for the calories with 30 grams for approx 160 calories.

You can buy the container for way less with the same amount of cal/protein.

I, too, use Premier protein and love them. I am out right now and having to use the Premier powder it is just as good and a whole lot cheaper. I get mine at Sam's club but have noticed that Walmart and our local grocery is now selling them. Can't go wrong with them for sure. I cannot do the caramel, tastes too sweet for me and have never tried the banana.

Agree and they settle the best for me! Several recipes on their website also.

The last thing you need are protein shakes. They are a way to get in lots of calories right after surgery when you can't eat enough meat to get in your protein.

The companies that make protein shakes make lots of money from people who think they will lose weight from drinking them.

You need dense protein not liquid calories. The only way to lose weight now is to eat less calories than you burn.

White Dove, I disagree with you and so does my doctor. She said to get back on track to start drinking protein drinks and go from there. Just like you did right after surgery.

I've actually lost a good bit of regain from re-incorporating protein shakes. I am pretty picky about protein. I like BiPro (90 calories, 0 carbs, 20g protein).

My philosophy: If it's between a Snicker bar and a protein shake, a protein shake is always gonna be the better choice! Your mileage may vary of course, which is why it's probably good not to make blanket statements.
