Nosey People & Coworkers
I'm sorry. I think you are misunderstanding my putting an opposing view out there as arguing.
Do what you want. Your life, your choice. But I thought I could come here and engage in discourse. If you'd like me not to share opposing views, I am happy to refrain from doing so.
In short, I thought it was ok to talk this out. I have no desire to bully you into doing stuff you don't want to do, but talking about it sometimes opens up doors of thought.
But seeing your reaction I think I'm going to back out. Be well!
RNY Gastric Bypass 1-8-08 350/327/200 (HW/SW/CW). I spend most of my time playing with my food over at Bariatric Foodie - check me out!
Good luck on your new journey!!! There are two ways to look at it. One is that it is nobody's business. Two, share your success and they may understand that you will be living differently. I choose to share my story with anyone. Mostly because I'm proud that I had FINALLY worked hard to get to where I wanted to be and also because they think it is "the easy way out". I explain it's just a tool to use as you learn how to monitor your food intake for a healthier life. I also explain how difficult it can be to go back to old habits after a couple years. Your stomach may stretch if you don't stick to your new lifestyle. I also will talk to anyone who BRINGS IT UP TO ME that they are thinking of the surgery. I always explain that there are risks involved in the surgery. They need to do their research and do whats best for them. I tell them my story as well as others that have not been so lucky. If they decide to do it I offer support and give suggestions that helped me. I agree 100% that only in ONE WAY that this road is easy. It FORCES you to stay on a program long enough to learn how to use your new "tool". There is no "quitting" like all of those past diets we went thru. No more failures! As long as you learn how to use your "tool" you will be fine. This new life forces you to read labels, research restaurant menu/nutritional menu FOR EVERY MEAL. I lost all of my weight eating at restaurants!!! I am not a cook and my daughter was a very picky eater!!! You may ask for kids menus, I offer to pay for the drink. If i order a full meal, which can be so overwhelming when they bring it to your table, I take it home and make a couple meals out of it. I try to order it with extra chicken to get more protein as leftovers. The menus are out there, use them. This will also teach you portion control! Learn it fast and don't EVER allow yourself to stray from it! Use phone apps that will help you monitor your exercise, measurements, protein, carbs, fat and calories. I used Sparks People. Once I leveled off for the last time I weighed myself EVERY SINGLE MORNING before I jumped in the shower. For me it was very helpful. It's easier to monitor your eating for a couple days to loose that two pound jump then to all of a sudden find out a week or two later that you now have 10 pounds to loose. That happened to me when I gained 15 and had a mental block to go back down. EVERY DAY!
