Hi Everyone, I've been lurking for awhile as I stumbled upon this site and have been reading daily. I was going through the process of being approved fro Roux-en-Y. I live in Canada (Alberta) & the process is different hear, I was referred to the clinic & waited about 1 1/2 years to get in. Finally got my first appointment in December 2015. They have a complete team that follows you (Nurse, Dr. of Internal Medicine, Psychologist & Dietitian). They all work in the Bariatric Clinic. I was approved for Surgery in September , met my surgeon who had me put on her wait list (6-9 months) & I got a call last week & have been scheduled for surgery May 4/17. Took weight wise classes as part of the requirement & have attended one pre-bariatic class, and another one this week. It's been a long process, but I am thankful as I went into the referral against surgery for myself, but with an open mind willing to change. Obviously it changed. :). I strat my 2 week liquid diet this week (Ensure High Protein) & 3/4 cup plain 0% Greek yogurt/day). Your posts on this site have helped settle any fears that I had. Thank you all for your honesty.

Congratulations! Surgery is coming up quickly. How exciting!! (I thought you were going to say Dr Sharma is your surgeon but you said "she"... was going to be really jealous! Still envious as I'm at the start of my journey!!)

Dr. Kanji is my surgeon. I was very fortunate as her wait list was shorter as she just returned from maternity leave. I guess a lot of the surgeon's wait lists are 12 - 18 months. They have been fantastic at the clinic. It was a long process, but I feel it was worth it - they make sure you are as prepared as you can be & I love that although your care is transferred to your family doctor after a year, once a patient, always a patient at the Weight Wise Clinic & you can always call if needed. Best of luck on your journey.
