Surgery - May 16 - revision
Hello Everyone :)
Normally I post in the Canadian forum, but now that it has been confirmed that I will be having surgery, and it will be RNY I wanted to reach out to this forum.
To say that I am nervous is an understatement! I currently have a lap band and its been the worst experience. Luckily, I have only had it for 2 years, but I could not imagine living the rest of my life with this band.
Anyone else a revision? Whats your experience been? I am so scared to fail

I had my band removed and Rny September, 2016. It was the best thing I've done for myself. I lived with that band for 10 years and it didn't do me any favors, so congrats to you for getting this done without hesitation. Food does not get stuck unless you do not chew your food thoroughly. With my band, everything got stuck unless it was coated with anything creamy! What a nightmare. Do your homework by knowing what your expectations are and follow your surgeon's orders. This site can help you through any specific questions or concerns you may have, just search it and/or ask the vets. They are amazing and always happy to help. Nervous is understandable, don't be afraid, you won't fail.
Good luck and keep us updated!

Hi there,
I am not a revision but I did want to say that we have a lot of posters who are band to bypass or band to sleeve revisions.
Check out our daily "what's on your menu today RNYers", there are a lot ladies there that had the band and now have RNY. You could also PM (personal message them), its the envelope in the top right corner by your name to send a PM and they can share their experiences with you. What I am reading so far from them that getting the band out and having the RNY is the best decisions they ever made and they are all very happy!
Some of the band to RNY ladies are:
JuniperBerry, OneBlueSock (she just had her band out and is having RNY in June), Pat R and conazza are just a few I know for sure had bands and had them removed. Hopefully they will jump on her and give you their thoughts.
Best of luck, I love my RNY and its one of the best things I have ever done for myself!
Daisy

I am happy to share my experience, but as Daisy said...my revision is the best thing I ever did for myself.
Success is so much easier with the RNY because the foods you are supposed to eat to help you be successful are tolerated much easier.
Once the band is out you won't even remember it. RNY is a whole new surgery and a million times easier to be successful. Good luck!!
I 100% agree with JB. I also had the band for 10 long painful years. I could really only eat slider foods cause everything else got stuck. I also had bad reflux. Having he RNY was the best choice and I regret not having it sooner. I feel like I'm living a miracle. I was scared to death before surgery and think that's a normal part of the process for many. I actually almost went home the morning of surgery from the anxiety I had. I'm down 91lbs and couldn't be happier. Good luck and feel frento PM me if you have other questions.
