Reversal/ feeding tube????
Has anyone had to have a reversal? I had gastric bypass 4 years ago and have had literally every complication there is. I've been in and out of the hospital soooo much. I can't stop losing weight. I'm 5'6 and down to 108. I just had a diagnostic laparoscopy yesterday to see if anything was going on in there to cause it. My stomach was rotated, and he said I had a intestine FULL of stool. (I don't even feel constipated so that threw me). I meet with him again next week to go over options. He wants to reverse it. He's concerned that it's dangerous to be underweight (plus still losing). I literally eat every two hours. Whatever I want. I'm always hungry. I want to avoid reversal if AT ALL possible. I'm gonna beg him to try a feeding tube first! Has anyone else had to have a feeding tube??? I don't know what to do. I cried all day yesterday at the thought of having to go through that surgery again, and wondering how my body will go crazy after. (I have a couple autoimmune disease). Any help is appreciated!!!!
I have no real experience to warrant any suggestions, other than, if I were you, I would at the very least see about getting a second opinion?
Sorry you are going through this

I am sorry you are having such a hard time. I would also seek a second opinion and if that doctor feels a reversal is necessary I would find a doctor who has done them before and knows what he is doing.

There are digestive enzymes that will help you absorb better. Ask your doctor about Creon and see if that helps.
I lost more than I wanted and I know it isn't fun. I think I would look better with more weight on me but my health is good and that is what is important.
A reversal does seem kind of drastic. I had a revision 7 years ago because I was having side effects and the revision did help with that.
You may want to see another surgeon and get a second opinion. A feeding tube may help but I don't think it would be a permanent solution.

I had my common channel lengthened from 100 cc to 200 cc. I also had a blind loop that was causing bacterial overgrowth and that was corrected.
Basically to reduce malabsorption and help me absorb better.
Ironically I was over 220 lbs when I had the revision and lost over 110 lbs with even less malabsorption. But I also never had restriction and my stomach was changed from a sleeve to a pouch and that give me the help I needed to eat less.
I actually wanted to have a reversal and my surgeon told me that I couldn't be reversed but I could be revised to absorb better.
