I remember as if it were just yesterday (and I am 61) when I was ten years old they wheeled the big scale into our classroom and told us we would all be weighed after the lunch period. I remember sitting in the cafeteria in a state of terror about facing that. I weighed 164 pounds, and everyone was listening and laughing. Every detail of that incident is still crystal clear in my mind.

I took a nice long walk yesterday in the sunshine. It felt really good to be out and moving. That's definitely a new thing since I have spent my life trying not to move any more that is necessary.

QOTD: I went on WW several years ago and lost almost 80 pounds. I was just on the verge of being only "overweight" when life happened and I eventually gained it all back plus. I remember feeling so much better then. I could move my body and do things that felt good.

Breakfast: spinach egg muffin, turkey bacon

Snack: protein shake

Lunch: turkey chili

Snack: cottage cheese and applesauce

Dinner: salmon with riced cauliflower

Exercise: short walk on my morning break, longer walk in the afternoon

Good morning guys!!

Gorgeous day here yesterday and I had a great day... I think, I'll find out soon enough. Today our plan was to have no plan and just have a stress free fun day. Executing such a day is a whole other issue but I'm hopeful!

QOTD As a kid/teenager I have zero memory of ever weighing myself. I was always overweight and I do recall wearing a size 16 at 15 years old but I can't tell you a single weight from then. Throughout my teens, 20's and 30's my weight continued to climb, plateau and climb again. And again I have no specific numbers from any of those years. (Hmmm...denial...??) I do know that I reached my highest weight in the mid 2000's. Again I have no idea what it was except that it was more than the high weight I have listed. I was still avoiding the scale but I assure you I was into the 400's. My dad died in 2009 and I got serious about losing, I worked at it on my own for over a year before going to a bariatric clinic and my first weigh in there was 309. I was mortified but knew how far I had come so it softened the blow. I did 3 months of Optifast and continued to diet after that getting down to 220 for my sisters wedding in 2012. Fast forward through a series of crappy life events and I was in the clinic this time last year at 386. The last 8 years have been chaos on my body.

B- coffee w/ 1/2 chocolate premier

L & D- I'll bring some food for our travels but don't know what yet

S- 1/2 premier in coffees

Have a great day guys!

Christine, just wanted to say congrats on your weight loss so far, you are really doing an amazing job! Like I said to Erin (Insert Fitness) above it really makes my heart smile to see newbies doing so well, eating high protein, low carb and following the "rules." You will truly be at your goal in no time.

Keep up the awesome work my friend you are killin' it!

Thank you Daisy!

I thank you both for the kind words and for your commitment to OH. I have no doubt that these forums have been key to the success of thousands of WLS folks but most don't stay connected and involved in the long term so thank you for being one of the great exceptions to that rule!

I was in the 170's - 180's for most of high school. I distinctly remember an instance stepping on the scale early in my freshman year of college and seeing 211. I then lost about 30lbs because my dorm was at the bottom of a giant hill I had to walk up many times per day AND I hated the food there. But that one 211 always sticks with me and for years that was my "breaking point". Under 211 and I was ok, because I still a happy college student so why not be a happy 211lb adult right? I also remember being 188lbs at the first doctor's visit when I was pregnant with my 1st daughter. So that tells me in my early 20's I was somewhere in the low 180's. Finally I remember being 13 years old, the day I was diagnosed with diabetes and seeing 168lbs on the scale. I have this sort of trepidation of being less than the 170's because it's totally unknown!

Yesterday was a beautiful day. Today is warm but misty and overcast. I got in a 3 mile walk and also an hour and 45 minutes with my trainer last night. So, today will be rest day as I'm feeling pretty whooped, muscle wise.

I've been riding a motorcycle for about 4 years now. I realized yesterday that when you're an obese female riding one, no one pays you any mind. However, apparently when you're an average american woman weight female every man in existence waves at you. This was seriously unnerving to me. Like, what the hell?

I think having so many folks wave at me would bother me, too. I am not looking forward to the increased attention that so many talk about experiencing as they loose weight.
