Quick post this morning.

I had another energy crash yesterday afternoon like I had last Tuesday. I just couldn't go on and I had to knock off work an hour and a half early and take a nap. This morning I was scrambling because I never packed my gym bag last night. What to wear?!

QOTD: in high school I would go horseback riding regularly. I remember that I had to stay under 200 or 210 if I wanted my boots to pull up. 4 years ago I did this medically supervised diet called HMR. My weight briefly dipped below 200 when I had a stomach flu and stayed around 200 for about 6 months before the slow regain started... I wasn't starving myself but I was completely obsessed with food in a way I'm just not post-surgery. It felt like all I could think about.

Plan:
1. Premier protein with coffee
2. Half cup cottage cheese with 2 blueberry protein mini muffins
3. Artichoke Florentine egg bites and 2 babybels
4. Greek yogurt with scoop vanilla protein powder and banana cream sugar free pudding mix
5. Morningstar veggie burger with slice of cheese.

Exercise-spin. Made it on time!!!

Totals: cal 858/ carbs 40/ protein 97

Enjoy these next wonderful few months when you don't think about food. Sadly, it doesn't last too long :( I heard other people say it, and I didn't believe it, because I was so bored with food that I didn't think I would ever care again. But here we are almost 2 years later and I would cut someone for a brownie. Hahaha...but no really, I would.

a brownie, a cupcake, a Reese PB cup, an Easter Creme egg, list goes on & on of what I would push my sister in front of a train for... lol lol

NEWBIES, like JB said, ENJOY the not hungry & not thinking of food, it all changes and maintenance is a *****!

Could your 'energy crashes' be RH (reactive hypoglycemia)?

That seems possible. I know I had low blood sugar in the hospital and they sent me home with a blood sugar tester. They told me to use it if I was feeling light headed or dizzy. So far that's only happened when I try to eat a protein bar... my energy crashes I just no longer feel capable of doing anything and my low carb snacks haven't helped at all. If it happens again I'll test my blood sugar. They told me I should have some juice if my blood sugar is low, so I'll try that next time. Though... I might be living alone by then and not be able to steal my mom's juice. I'll have to buy some of those little bottles of apple juice to keep on hand.

I had just figured I've been pushing too hard with too much work, no downtime with my moving prep, intense cardio 5 days a week, and a very low cal diet

I'll ask my dr about this at my follow up in a couple weeks.

Hi Merryrose, I just wanted to give some supportive feedback on your menu. I noticed your calories at 2.5 months out are what I eat in maintenance and your portions seem big for your amount of time post op. At 2 months out I was eating around 500 calories a day and a measured & weighted 1/2 cup of food and usually I had a hard time finishing it. I would never had touched a muffin (or mini muffin) even if it was made with protein powder in it before I had got to my goal weight. It looks like you are eating close to a a cup of food for each meal, I am surprised you can fit that all in at 2.5 months out. For example I eat 2 babybels for a snack before the gym, that's all I can fit in at 3.5 years out.

I am giving you this feedback because if you are eating 858 calories at 2.5 months out you don't have a lot of room to go up to maintenance calories by 12 months. At 3.5 years out I like to keep my macros at this:

Daily calories: 850-900

Daily Protein: 100-120

Daily carbs: 25-35

Of course you do what feels right to you, you can ignore my advice. I just wanted to share what worked for me. And my intention is not to upset you or **** you off I am writing this to be supportive and if I didn't care I would not take the time to write or post back.

I had/have similar concerns about my diet... after making the protein muffins I've been reconsidering them as they came out a bit carbier than I was expecting in MFP and I probably won't make again... but I only made them to begin with after discussing with my nutrionist. I also asked her about how much I was eating and she said that everyone's different and I should just focus on getting in my liquids and protein. Which I've been doing.

As a vegetarian I find it difficult to get enough low calorie protein. I briefly considered reintroducing meat to my diet, but I'm really not comfortable with that and have decided to try to make it work. I would welcome any suggestions!

I also do intense cardio 5 days a week. I don't really know how that should affect my calorie totals, but the nutritionist told me to try to get at least 90 grams of protein on my gym days.

I don't want to blow my big chance, and I know I'm not doing it like some other people, but I've been following the advice of my nutritionist...

I agree with daisydoo02...too! Every body is different.. RH can be very serious...so the fruit juice or glucose tabs might be the thing to carry with you..I follow the tabs up with protein. Not the protein bars! I find them cloyingly sweet. I did find an unflavored whey protein isolate on amazon that I mix with my coffee...in any case you need to check you sugar levels and check with your doctor...ok

Have you tried skyr style yogurt? The brand I get is something like 120 calories and 22g of protein. Might help up your numbers as a non meat option!
