Hi Tri,

Why would you if you are trying to get back on track and lose weight go to slimfast "snacks?" What is a slimfast snack? I am trying to understand why you are not eating DENSE PROTEIN? Your 500 calorie meal, is that something like a "Lean Cuisine" or WW frozen meal? A total waste of 500 calories when you could be eating 500 calories of dense protein.

I just had a snack before I go to the gym, it was one babybel cheese and 2 slices of bacon, total in MFP is 140 calories and I am FULL. 1200 calories of "slimfast snacks" and 500 calorie meals is not the way to get back on track. If you ate 1200 calories of dense protein (chicken breast, steak, bacon, pork chops, kielbasa for example) then I guarantee you would see your weight start to move down, better still to eat 900 to 1000 calories of dense protein but you have to start somewhere.

Only you will know when you are ready to get serious about losing weight and eating protein forward. I see you are 11 years out and processed food is not the way to get back on track, high protein, super low carb, low calories and lots of liquids (not pop or protein shakes) are the way to kick start your loss again.

wishing you the best of luck at getting back on track, I know its hard once you are addicted to carbs but you have to start somewhere and in my honest opinion slimfast snacks is not the best use of your calories.

Good morning JB and everyone!

Been busy day his morning working on my backsplash project. Was going to work outside this morning again but feel slight ill and running to the bathroom. Trying to figure out why.

QOTD: My weight has been all over the place since being a young adult. I was alway thin growing up because working on the farm I got lots of exercise. My weight issues started after becoming pregnant with my three children...gaining a little more after each but nothing really extreme..still manageable. My husband was physically and mentally abuse, so my marriage ended after 9 years. I really started gaining massive weight after my second marriage. I think because in my heart of hearts I knew he was having an affair but I hid my feelings with food which wasn't hard since I was a shortorder cook for years. After I finally had enough being a doormat and kicked him out (found out my years of suspicion were right), I started dieting and working out but I was purging and becoming a mix of balemic and anorexic. I lost 100 lbs and when I met the love of my life, I weighed 114 lbs., but I know it was not done in a completely healthy way. I was working out 6 days a week but not nourishing my body. I started gaining weight yet again after we married and became my heaviest over the last 5 years..ballooning too 259 lbs when my DH was in the hospital for weeks in 2014 a 2015. My WLS has been such a blessing because it has helped by giving me a tool to help me become truly healthy and the best I have felt in many years.

Menu:

Breakfast: egg, ham and cheese scramble

Lunch and Dinner: not sure but it will be protein forward.

Hi everyone,

I can't believe I"ll be 10 weeks post op tomorrow; crazy how fast the time has gone!

I was a thin child, except for the year I turned 12 when we spent the summer with relatives in Europe and I was given pastries and fresh cream for breakfast every day, lol. I lost the extra pounds quickly though, and was an average teen. I remember joining Weigh****chers for the first time while in University at 128 Lbs and thought I was huge because I was crazy, basically, lol. I just wanted to get down to 115, and I think I did, briefly. Then I took my first teaching job way up North and it was so cold I couldn't breathe, so the doctor there ordered me a special mask to rebreathe my own air and he also put me on heavy doses of prednisone for the entire school year. I went from size 9 to size 22 in one school year and struggled for the next 30 years. I lost 50 Lbs several times on my own, but never more than that, and always gained it back. My weight went up to 304, the day I started Optifast. I'm down to 236.4 this morning, so down 67.6 Lbs total, which blows my mind. It's not official until tomorrow though, lol. Wednesdays are my weigh-in days, so I'll change my ticker tomorrow. I haven't been in the 230's in well over 10 years, if not more, so I'm thrilled.

Breakfast: 2/3 cup of Skyr yogurt, with cinnamon, and apple cinnamon herbal tea. First day trying 2/3 cup and I think I'll go back to half cup as it was too much. My booklet says I should eat 2/3 cups to 1 cup per meal but it is just too much.

Lunch: 1 egg omelette with cheese.

Supper: 2 ounces of steak, 1 or 2 tbsp mixed veggies.

Snack: If needed, I'll top up my protein with premier protein shake.

I've been either walking or bike riding every day but it snowed last night; grrr, and now we have freezing rain! So I'll have to get a ride to the mall if I want my walk today.

Kathy you are doing fantastic! Just wanted to note that just because your handouts/Nut/Centre says to up the amounts only do what is comfortable to you. We all heal at different rates, we all can tolerate food/dense proteins differently so just go slow and listen to your body for sure!

Sorry to hear you got snow and now freezing rain, I hope the sun and warmer temp**** up North soon!!!

Keep up the great work you are doing so great and welcome to the RNY Menu crew!

Better late than never! Just thought I'd pop in and answer the QOTD, and say I went to the gym and followed the trainers plan by myself!

I have to laugh this trainer is holding me accountable, and wants to know everyday what I am doing for exercise, how many minutes etc...even when I am not at the gym. When I was there Saturday by myself, he was there and between clients, so he was on his phone... didn't really figure he was watching me. When we had our session last night - He was like "On Saturday I told you to do three sets of XYZ and you only did 2. Oops! Not on purpose, I just lose count and forget...LOL. For the "I will never join a gym again" person, I am really enjoying it.

QOTD: I do know weights at significant times- losses and gains. Started dating my husband at around 220. Married him at 275. When I wanted to get pregnant, we talked about how I needed to lose weight so I went to WW and lost a 100lbs and was 195. Lowest of my adult life up until now. I needed to go to an infertility specialist, and during the testing and all the stress...I started to put weight back on- about 25lbs at that point. I remember the Doc saying something, but he never knew me fat...I came in at 195, which at 5'11" is close to normal. Got pregnant at 225, delivered at 300lbs. 6weeks later I was back to 260, and at my son's first birthday I was at 215. I could go on... So dates and weights are closely connected...

Since it is late in the day I won't post my actual food...but to say- I am liking the pre-putting my food in MFP the day before, and then adjusting the totals as the day progresses if eating and schedule don't work out like I thought.... It keeps me looking at the big picture for the day....even if I make changes.
