Finally Approved for RNY
Congrats. I'm about 3 weeks post op myself.
Do your pre-op diet the best you can but when you get to the last 2 days you definitely want to be very strict about the clear liquid part. You want you want your intestines to be food free for the surgery. The anesthesia and pain meds is going to freeze your guts up for a couple of days and if you have food in there you're gonna be even more uncomfortable than normal.
Congrats on your surgery date! I know that when I was pre-op the days seemed to drag, but they really do pass quickly in the end.
I did two things getting ready for surgery.
- I started eating like I would after surgery, no sugar, lots of fluids, lots of protein. I didn't spend those weeks eating lots of junk food. I figured that I'd made the commitment to surgery and the new life and I would start right away.
- I started a journal. I wrote about each appointment and what I ate, what I exercised. Now I also use it as a learning tool to look back and see what I was struggling with sometimes only a few days before.

HW: 248+, SW (RNY: 2/28/17): 244, GW (10/17): 125; LW: 115; 45# regain (19-20); CW: 135.6; new goal: 135; Plastics: Ext mastopexy, Ext abdominoplasty-5/18/2018; diagnosed w/ gastroparesis 11/20.
I was 57 1/2 when I had RNY and my only regret was not having it sooner. Maybe I wasn't ready for it until then, but I am glad that I did not wait another day.
The healthier you go into surgery, the healthier you come out and the shorter your recovery. That thought will help you make good food choices and get more mobile before surgery.
Best wishes for a successful start!

also, add more info to your ticker when you are comfortable. it will help people respond to your questions.

Congratulations! It'll be here before you know it!
If you're not already in the habit of drinking a lot of water every day begin now so you can get into the habit quicker. It's so important to stay hydrated especially after your surgery. Stock up on foods you like that are okayed by your team. You can puree & store ahead so when you're sore it's easy to just pop what you want into the microwave.
Lots of information here so read & ask questions cause someone has probably been through it & will be happy answer your questions.
