Post op pain after my revisional surgery from sleeve circ 2004 to RNY a few days ago
Hi forum,
I need help, I just got surgery done for starters I know this type of surgery when it was done in 2004 in Nashville TN, now 13 years later almost I get RNY to pull off that last remainder of weight from my high.
I am having way more pain and my doctors are not helping me. I don't know what I should do.
Surgery date 4/4/2017 discharged 4/6/2017 - wishing i didn't have the surgery now.
- I am having lower left abdominal pain, it feels like my intestines are tearing its a 23 or more on the 1-10 pain scale.
- Holding my guts with my hand seems to help, I don't know if i should wear my abdominal binder and treat it like plastic surgery.
- My doctors didn't tell me that my surgery included other operations, they did a Lysis of intestinal adhesion's, endoscopy of bowel pouch, small bowel resection, with enterostomy.
New York state is not a safe state to have surgery done ; reason being simple. Former resident of the state, they "the state of New York" has over-reached its powers and control and prosecuted too many doctors so the the doctors in course have their sphincters tied in a knot.
If your pain is a 23 and your doctor is not willing to check on you then you need to go to the ER now.
How did you find out about the other procedures? Did they give you your surgical report? Did anyone say why they did those?
It was part of my itemized discharge summary. I'll keep that in mind about going to the ER, i like the hospital system better here in NJ. I don't know how I am going to get to my post op first appointment on Wednesday, thanks for your follow up.
Other complications again with the "laws of the land", I was very open and honest with my doctors about my scoliosis and chronic back pain that is relieved by prescribed pain medications. It was a bummer that my local doctor in NJ was on vacation this week, but I managed to get my provider in NY to give me enough to get me to follow up with my local doctor here.
Turned out all my pain was associated with a post op surgical infection, quick in-patient fix which i'm still monitoring and keeping it clean.
The pain went from 23 to 0 after all that infection was removed. Laproscopic port closes to small bowel, notably the incision site that has higher if not highest rate of infection.
