Your advice is what I keep telling myself but also not REALLY believing. I know it'll work if I keep at it.

Hello Everyone,

I've been away on a trip with my students and I've missed checking in and posting. I'll have lots to check up on. While I was away eating was a challenge but I was able to manage. There's always a place with salad topped with meat.

QOTD: I too was a revision from lap band and also determined to give this second chance my 100%. I use this site as my best resource even though I've gone to live groups. I find that so many people are ill informed and it makes me sad. I wish I could express to everyone how important it is to come here and listen to the vets *****ally, honestly and truly know way more than your nutritionist. It's working for me and it's made my loss greater than I had even hoped for. Sometimes I feel like I should go back to school to become a nutritionist so I can spread the word! haha

B: decaf and protein hot chocolate

L: Tuna pouch, string cheese, babybel and balsamic

D: Grilled Chicken Tenders with romaine and light dressing

I LEGIT looked into what it would take to get enrolled into a nutrition program, because I thought it would be so rewarding to pay it forward and become a nutritionist for bariatric patients. But I found out that since I have a BA not a BS, I was going to have to almost start my undergrad from scratch and I just don't have time for that after 40...

Thanks for that info JB. I was thinking of doing the same thing once reaching my goal. I have no college education and I did not realize how much schooling it required!

After my last endoscopy, I told my surgeon it's too bad I'm so old, because I would go back to school and do something related to WLS (NP, Dietitian???) I said that after all I've had to deal with, I'd be a good resource. He agreed. But I can't imagine starting over

I've thought the exact same thing!! I'd love to do it if I was 20 years younger - although getting another degree doesn't sound particularly appealing - I think I'd die if I had to write another paper or take another final!!

JB, I am so glad both your parents are still improving and your like fee is starting to get back to normal.

Spring did show up today and I was working in the yard all morning. Loved getting outdoors! Also took a nice walk with my DH. Unfortunately, it looks like winter is returning next week...Going to cry!

QOTD: I have given this slot of thought today before posting my answer. Usually post in the morning. I think the best advice I could give my pre-op self would be to take full advantage of the honeymoon period because the first year goes by very fast! Of course my doctor said the honeymoon period is 12-18 months. My one year surgiversary is fast approaching, and although I have been very focused on what I fuel my body with and following the plan, I could have done a better job with my carb intake months 7-9 (repeat to myself...carbs are your enemy!!!) Which I think had a lot to do with my major stall, but I have refocused now and the scale is moving again thanks a lot to coming back to OH and this group of you lovelies in particular. I would have also told myself to take your body measurements at different stages and write it down so I could have seen the inches that I have lost.

Menu:

Breakfast: egg, ham and cheese scramble

Lunch: Fajita chicken and green salad mix w/ FF dressing

Dinner: Steak on the grill......yummy!

Hello everyone,

JB, so glad your parent continue to improve. I've nevr been to one of the old movie theater. I would love to find one around my area once I can fit in those tiny seats! LOL :) It's a good incentive.

QOTD: As others have mentioned, I would definitely invest in a digital scale. Now I don't eat anything with it going on the scale first. I would also tell myself to eat very dense protein forward. Luckily with help of all you wonderful vets on here, I did learn that quickly! More water, more water and more water!! LOW CARB for at least the first year!
