Hi everyone,

i an on my 2nd Mirena IUD and other than a few very light days, I've rarely had a period in 8 years. I had my surgery and I just had my 2nd period since surgery. It's still light but more than I'm used to. Kind of weird to have a regular period again.

I am on mirena also. Pre op my cycle was so light it was virtually non existent. For the first 2/3 months post op, I had a heavier periods with a many many light days. The last 6 weeks it's been much lighter with many more clear days. I'm hoping it continues to get better, for you also!

My cycles were really screwey for about 12-18 months post op, then things settled back down.

Same experience. I'm on my 3rd IUD and had scant or nonexistent periods pre-op. I now get regular periods- lighter than a 'non-iud' period, but a full 5-8 days. If I have to deal with periods I may as well do a tubiligation.

I've heard periods are far worse with the tubal. Even with having a period it's nowhere nearly as horrible as pre-Mirena days. Even with exclusive nursing, prior to the Mirena I had 7 days, 4 very heavy, and never missed. Except while pregnant.

Mine were always perfectly on time until surgery, since then they have been messed up.

Over the past 21mths Ive had 1 come on time... others have ranged from 30- 66 days apart but happily the flow has remained light as always.

I'm also at that Pre menopausal age (mid 40's).....but the sudden change still seemed suspicious. .....

Darn.... I know this is going to sound strange but I wish I had periods....

Lost my uterus/ovaries due to Stage 4 Endometriosis. Surgical menapause was crazy....

A lot of my weight gain came soon after surgery in 2011.

Be thankful you still have cycles....

I am having this exact same issue at 5 weeks post op. On my second period. Thanks for being brave enough to post, looks like this is pretty common.
