Hi Everyone, Sad news from me [swinging chickens welcomed]. Yesterday at 11am I got a call from my mom to tell me that she was rushing my Dad to the ER after he had a seizure. He had another very bad one at the hospital and now we are trying to figure out why. It might have been brought on by a stroke, or pneumonia, or something else. Tough stuff. They transferred him to the ER at a bigger hospital and even though we got here at 2:30pm (YESTERDAY!), he is still not in a room. It's frustrating and tiring, and I just want him to feel better.

I expect to be at the hospital all day, today. I have literally no idea what I will be eating. Yesterday I found a cup with cheese cubes and grapes for dinner, so that's an option again, I guess. Nothing else in the cafeteria looked even remotely like it was on the approved list--it was all pizza and other crap. I will try to make good choices though, because it is going to be a very sedentary day.

QOTD: What did your parents do for work? My mom is a middle school math teacher and my dad is retired now, but has done a bunch of interesting things. I think his favorite job was working in the IT Department for MIT.

Menu: Nope, got nothing...

Vitamins: Nope, forgot to have Grim pack those up for me...

Exercise: Nope, hahahaha

Oh JB So sorry about your Dad, I know about that hospital food, one would think being a hospital that they would server SOME healthy types of foods!

My Mom work for a company as a supervisor and my father was a plummer/electrician

I'm so sorry to hear this JB. Life sure has a way of pulling the rug out from under us when we least expect it. My advice for food, not that you'll have much appetite, is to order some reasonable take out. Boston Market chicken comes to mind... or make a quick run for some protein shakes and wls friendly snacks. You're going to need your energy.

Qotd: my mom works for an insurance brokerage, and my dad is a farmer and also a laborer for Hydro Ontario, which he calls his Retirement job haha as he's the old timer there, but I guarantee he can out work any man on that job site (including my little brother). The man is a machine . Most of his career he did drilling and blasting work for highways, electric installations and pipelines etc. I think this summer he'll retire.

Keep tha****er bottle right in front of you all the time (even at meetings) and sip, sip, sip like we did right after surgery. Eventually it becomes a habit!

Yes! BUT the habit is strong so set your timers and hide your water bottle from yourself during your pre/post eating window. Otherwise you're just going to mindlessly keep sipping away. Like I did just now. Way too soon after breakfast. Darn it!

LOL - it does become second nature eventually, but it takes quite a while (I still sometimes forget in the 30 minutes after a meal period if I don't put my water bottle away). I use a timer during that period too.

I use a water timer too. But if I'm sitting at the dinner table with my wife I have on occasion mindlessly reached to grab her water.

JB, so sorry to hear about your dad! I'll be thinking of you.

QOTD: my mom works at a vet hospital. My dad is retired, but he used to be a software engineer.

Yesterday was very productive. I got way more done at work teleworking. I got my nails done. (One got chipped immediately. Oops). I got my groceries. I rediscovered PB2! And I bought a kitchen table!!!

Plan:
Breakfast: coffee with 2 oz premier protein.
Snack: cottage cheese
Lunch: zucchini egg bites with Greek yogurt pesto dip.
Snack: Greek yogurt, scoop protein powder, 1 tbs butterscotch sugar free instant pudding mix (I think next time maybe less, but I already packed my lunch so it's too late) AND tsp PB2. It's my butterfinger yogurt! I'm excited.
Dinner: Morningstar steak strips with marinara and Italian cheese

Exercise: spin spin spin. (Autocorrect is getting ahead of itself by suggesting "spinathon" because apparently I type that so much lately it's become a word. I'm doing one on may 13th. Am I allowed to share the donations link here? It's for the Dana Farber Cancer Institute)
