Phase 1 question

I am 4 days post op. This may be a dumb question, but is it possible to be having too much liquid during phase 1? I'm up to almost 2L over the course of the day. I'm worried that I'm taking in too much already which is feeding my fears for the future. Am I just being paranoid?

2 liters is right where you want to be at.

No problem with liquid. Drink as much as you are comfortable with. People heal at different rates. It was a week before I was comfortable with eight ounces of liquid at once. There is swelling after surgery that can make it uncomfortable to drink liquids. Sounds like you are a quick healer.

Liquids aren't going to hurt you in any way.... dehydration is worse for you at this point...so as long as you can do it comfortably, drink away.

No, no, no! A variety of liquids is GREAT as long at they are sugar free and "clear"...ir: Broth, Sugar Free Gatorade (or other Sugar Free electrolyte drink) plain ol' water, water with sugar free sweetener (like Skinny Girl, etc) Sugar Free popsicals, sip, sip, sip and drink every 5-15 minutes. If you DON'T get enough fluid you will feel nauseous and "yucky' from dehydration.

Warmly,

Jackie

Thank you Jackie. Which brand of sugarfree Popsicles are you using?
