Good morning JB and my beautiful losers. It's actually my Friday, since I'm taking tomorrow off to take my oldest son to the local community college for a day to learn about the programs. He's graduating (God Willing) in 2018, and has decided to go into the trades. Right now, as a Junior, he's taking Welding and Metal Fabrication as 2 classes through the South and West Washtenaw Consortium, which offers trade classes to area high school students. I've signed him up for an informational session on Advanced Manufacturing and HVAC at Washtenaw Community College. They also have a welding program through the college. Though, honestly, he's said that he'd like to look into plumbing or electrical, I think that he says that because we've talked about how you can make a great living doing something like that. I think that for him, he's going to need to find something that actually feels like he's doing something, because I know he has a tendency to get bored. Anyway, I'm excited to go and check it out.

JBQOTD: A craft store. I LOVE all things crafty. Fiber arts, sewing, woodcrafts, paper crafts, everything artsy and making. I would spend all day long doing crafts or making things, so it would be AWESOME to have a shop that sold this stuff and that I could just make stuff (after I did all of the accounting, inventory management, employee management, etc.).

almost 20 months since surgery

B: 2x Carbmaster Proteim Smoothie. Coffee with SF coffeemate AND coffee with unsweetented almond milk (I'll talk more about this below)

L: 1/2 a chicken, bacon, and swiss wrap. Also, some meat on a stick (chicken with BBQ sauce from the chinese place last night)

D: rotisserie chicken

S: chickpea and cucumber salad

no totals just yet, I'll have to update in a bit.

So, I always struggle with my food. I have cravings and I can't seem to stop the binge eating entirely. I made a post on the main boards this morning about trying out A Pound of Cure, and I'm going to start it next Monday. This means purging all dairy, artifical sweeteners, and processed foods. It will be all lean protein, non-starchy veg, and fruit. I'll update about it as I go. Feel free to give your opinions on this, since I plan on doing it for 2 weeks to see if it actually helps me to stay on target some.

Our kids will graduate at the same time! My daughter is now looking (damn seriously) at the ROTC while she does college... after picking myself up off the ground from shock, and crying a few times over it, I'm all in now. I think it'll be great for her, and she'll be done with her commitment at 28. No matter which trade/career/path they choose, at this age, just having a path is a great choice! Plumbers - while I could never do what they do - make a great living. HVAC too... I wish him well, and good mom for getting him to the college to learn more! Have fun spending time with him! They leave us so quickly!

The only thing about the program you're going to try - IMHO - would be that the fruit might still cause cravings... If I were doing it, I would A. either skip the fruit for a while, or B. choose the lowest on the hypoglycemic scale... berries and apples... But I'm not a big fruit eater and never really have been, so skipping them is easy for me.

That was my thought as well. While they say you can have all of the fruit your want, I don't want to sit down and eat a whole pineapple just because I can. I think that the fruit will be berries, and maybe a few grapes. I love grapes.

Cantaloupe isn't so bad, right?

well, I guess it depends. 1 cup (160g) of cantaloupe is 54 calories, 13g carbs, and 1.3g of protein.

Pineapple (160g) is 80 calories, 20.8 carbs, and .8g protein.

strawberries (160g) 50 calories 12.3 carbs, and 1.1 protein

Does it fit into your plan?

I'm not sure. Maybe later. I haven't had much room for fruit yet...
