I Cannot eat

Water was almost impossible for me right after surgery. I now add some diet cranberry drink and it is much easier. Also second Syntrax powdet, especially the fuzzy navel. You can get a sample pack with about 15 flavors to try from Amazon. Most of them mix with water and do not have that milky thick flavor.

Keep at it, it does get better.

In addition to the possibility of dehydration, I found out I also get mildly nauseous when severely constipated... just something else to consider...

As others suggested, I'd focus on water, or liquids. Get them in any way you can. I'm a hot tea, or room temp water girl myself. And for the first month at least, my protein shakes had to be nearly frozen for me to be able to get them down...

good luck!

I'm sorry you are having a hard time. But it won't get better until you get a lot more fluids in. Really. Try hot, cold, lukewarm, flavored. Whatever you need. Even if it tastes bad. Right now it's the only thing that can make you feel better.

Just think of it as medicine. It will get better. Really.

I'm sorry that you are having such a hard time. My taste buds have changed and some things that I like the taste of before surgery now I don't. I have to add something to my water to drink it now, like Crystal Light or Dasani drops. Also Jello and popsicles helped alot.

VSG on 08/04/14

I had VSG but at one point it was hard getting the liquids down. The suggestions for temperature change was good for me. Even now I have to watch what temperature of water I consume at a particular time of day. I also switched to Isopure for a moment instead of shakes. Isopure didn't coat my tongue like the protein shakes. One other thing I did was walk while I drank. Like literally sip and start power walking, no stroll. I would just walk the breezeway of my apartment, back and forth while I completed my drink. That was the awesome move for me.

No disrespect but your LESS than a month out!!!! Of course your not going to be able to eat much You DO realize your ouch is about the size of a hard boiled egg right> You need to eat 4-7 very SMALL meals (or protein drinks of about 6 oz) every 4 hours. Your stomach and intestines are healing, I don't think I could eat solid food until nearly 2-3 MONTHS out of surgery! Thinks you should be eating....Creme soups, Sugar Free Jello, Sugar Free Protein shakes (Glucerna/Ensure/Atkins, etc) VERY soft foods like sunny side up eggs or soft boiled eggs, broth, etc.

If you are truly VOMITING water or clear protein shakes then you need to contact your Bariatric Surgeon, but only if you are truly vomiting. Feeling nauseous is part of the surgery, it's why its a TOOL. Also do NOT eat/ingest ANYTHING with a sugar content of over 3-
5 mg per serving.

Me at 7 years post op.

Warmly,

Jackie
