I Cannot eat

without feeling nauseous or thinking I'm going to be sick.

I cant tolerate anything and it's extremely hard I get fluids in. Water is disgusting, crystal light (well everything) leaves a weird gross taste in my mouth. Protein shakes that I've tried make me gag ugh

I am literally brushing my teeth 5 times a day at least.

Idk what to do. I feel miserable. I have no energy. I'm almost a month out and this is just not okay.

has anybody experienced this? What did you do? Should I start freaking out?

I didn't have anything that severe but I called my doctor when I had some serious nausea trying to choke down a premier protein after surgery. He told me hydration was more important than nutrition in the short term and if I couldn't keep liquids down I'd have to go to the ER and get an IV. He recommended isopure protein drink as something easier to tolerate.

Definitely call your doctor. I'm no expert... but your doctor is and it sounds like you're quite unwell.

If you don't get enough fluids and get dehydrated, you will be very nauseated. You have to drink whether it tastes good or not. Getting fluids at this point is far more important than protein drinks. That taste in your mouth is a combination of your body being in ketosis (fat burning mode) and the anesthesia leaving your body. It will be that way for awhile and no amount of teeth brushing will change it.

Change the temperature of the drinks. Try hot tea. Peppermint and ginger teas are really good for upset stomach. Adkins makes a clear protein drink called Lift. It tastes pretty good. You can dilute it with water if it's too strong.

You are only a month out and it will take several months longer before you get your energy back. You just had major surgery. Give yourself some time to heal. It does get better.

It does get better. Trust me it does.

Call your doctor. Being dehydrated can really screw up our bodies.

You can do this. You will feel better.

Yes, I went through that and some days all I had were popsicles and broth. It gets better, hang in there.

I agree with the suggestion to try ginger tea as it helped me a lot during the first few weeks. You could also try slicing some ginger root into a saucepan (a couple of inches and no need to peel it) and boiling it in a litre of water for 10 minutes or so.

I'm also really enjoying Syntrex nectar powder instead of RTD protein shakes now that I've found a local supplier. It comes in fruity flavours so it tastes better and is quite satisfying.

Hang in there as I'm sure you will feel better soon, but you need to stay hydrated!

I used Carnation Instant Breakfast, no sugar added for the first few months. I really ate very little food until about month 4.

I didn't, no. I'm sorry. Do call your doctor. It's a cycle. Being dehydrated makes you nauseous, which makes it gross to drink, which makes you more dehydrated. Keep trying to find what you can tolerate best, but I would also call.

I had this same thing and would gag even trying to take vitamins. I tried freezies and popsicles with no added sugar but ultimately I went to my centre and was admitted for about 4-5 days. I was dehydrated and likely hormone dumping. After getting rehydrated (IV) and IV anti-nausea meds I was much better. Hang in there and try to push fluids or got to emerg to get rehydrated.

Good luck!

Tic Tacs were my friend after surgery I was nauseous on and off for a long time. The mint melting in my mouth helped. Yes to what everyone said...fluids are the most important. Extra dilute if necessary... hot, cold...whatever it takes.
