What's on your Tuesday Menu, RNYers?
Busy day today. Our girl's hockey team won the NCAA championship and we have their celebration today. For those of us in IT that means computers, projectors and live streaming, oh my! My husband is still out of town so I couldn't sleep until 1am and I was up early to cook chocolate protein waffles for my daughter before her ELA state testing today. I'm sure I'll be dragging by dinner time.
QOTD: And now I'm going to reveal what a potentially horrible person I am. Our first date (which we also weren't sure was a date) was a dorm party at a college where the person's dorm we were visiting got belligerently drunk and wandered into the common space with alcohol as a minor and the police were called. We had our first kiss while waiting for the cops to show up. Still pondering how we're going to edit that story for our kids. That was almost 13 years ago and he's my rock and my best friend, and far more sober now.

As far as my kids are concerned (they will be 8 & 11 next month) we met at work. Which is true, we were co-workers and just friends for nearly a year before ever dating. We'll explain further someday :)

This is so funny to me! When I was in high school, I came home one night just shy of curfew, and my mother said, "You smell like weed!" Ummmmm...Mom, how do you know what weed smells like???
Never will forget the look on her face when I put two and two together!

Good Morning GrimBerry and Menu Family!
QOTD: I don't have a true love so this question doesn't really apply. I was married once to a man I met in a mental hospital! Moral of that story: Don't marry someone you meet in a mental hospital. Ha Ha! I was there for Depression and he was there getting over a divorce. Our marriage only lasted 5 years. He was abusive and an alcoholic. We had some good times, though. Our first date was going to the movie, "An Officer and a Gentleman".
B: bacon & spinach egg frittata
L: lettuce, chicken, cheese, low cal dressing
D: homemade chili
S: light n fit Greek yogurt
S: prosciutto & mozzarella sticks
Exercise: Walking Blossom around the subdivision
Have a fantastic day everyone!

Good morning JB and my crew. I am so tired, but I'm pushing myself. After the 5k this weekend, I'm super motivated to get back in shape. I think that my husband's injury, and having to take care of everything on my own for a bit has spurred me to make some serious decisions about what I need to do for ME and how I need to prioritize my needs, especially when he gets well and back on his feet. I always feel guilty about taking time to do what I need to do for my health, because there are so many demands on me. My husband needs me, my kids need me, I'm working full time and commuting. That damn, adorable puppy needs my time. I'm a bit fed up with giving all the time, and I've decided that I'm going to start taking time for my needs and my health. That being said, I'm doing what I can right now to get myself back into shape. I've decided that the elevator in my building is off limits. I work on the 5th floor and it's exactly 92 stairs between the first floor and my office. Yesterday I walked up them 2 times and down three. This morning I came up the stairs, got to my office and realized I couldn't get in because I left my badge in the car, so I walked back down, got the badge and trudged back up, carrying my laptop case the whole way. I will have to go down at least twice, and back up once because I didn't pack a lunch and I'll have to go and grab something. I'll have a tuna salad, since they always have them premade in the cooler.
JBQOTD: I met my husband 11 years ago while playing an online game. We were in the same guild on EverQuest, which is an MMORPG. He mentioned in passing that he was travelling to Michigan for his best friends wedding (he lived in Des Moines at the time). He is from Michigan, and grew up 25 minutes from where I did. We decided to meet for coffee while he was in town, and talked on the phone and online almost everyday for a month and a half between our talking and his coming to town. We met for coffee, then went out on a date the next day. Then he invited me to be his date for his best friends wedding, where I got to meet his parents. We hit it off, obviously, but he had to go back to Iowa, and we tried to date long distance for a bit. It got a bit overwhelming and he backed off after a few months, though we stayed friends and still talked. Then, in February of 2007, almost a year after meeting him, I told him that I was going to start dating, since it was obvious that we weren't going anywhere. He thought about this for a week and decided that he didn't want to date anyone else, and that we should try again long distance. Not three weeks after deciding to see each other again, he got the opportunity to apply for a position here locally for his company, and got the job. He moved back to Michigan in May of 2007. We started dating in person, and moved in together in January 2008. He proposed that summer and we were married in April of 2009. The rest is history.
