What's on your Thursday Menu, RNYers?
It's Acarbose. typically given to diabetics, it alters the metabolism of carbs. She wants me to try it for 2 months and then repeat the glucose monitoring to see if it prevents the hypoglycemia. On the fence about taking it. The side effects are a huge turn-off . . . bloating and gas. Also, since I really limit carbs, and have dumping symptoms even with proteins, I don't know how much it will help.
Yea... I was afraid that was it. Someone suggested a while back I take that. I never filled the script... I got some samples to try... ugh.. I hated it...
I know that this would not be good idea for me...
I also I tried food with resistant starch. - they sell them in grocery stores - extent bars.. Yea..The gas, smell and the pain was bad... plus - it got me constipated..
I found what works for me.. It was trial and errors..
I still get RH... or hypoglycemia - but when I do get it- I know exactly why...
There is food or drinks that may cause it 80-90%of the time, others - I may have 50-50 chance, and some - that I may have 20-30% chance.
I no longer eat the stuff that have a very high probability I get RH... the other 2 groups - I take a chance once in a while..

"Failure is not falling down, It is not getting up once you fell... So pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and start all over again...."
I think that's where I'll likely end up. Just figure out what works for me through trial and error. I'm not sure I want to go through the discomfort associated with the meds, since one of my dumping symptoms is bloating. Do I want to add something that will only increase the bloat? Particularly since it won't resolve my dumping symptoms. I think I can live without the carbs (I have for the past 3 years) and if I choose to have them, know that I'm going to suffer the consequences.
She wants me to try the extend bars at night before bed . . . glad to hear your experience with them. Again, I don't need something that will constipate me, bloat me ******e out of the house . . .
Today is my 6 mos surgeversary! I'm 165.1 today and started the the process at 250. I weighted 242 the day of surgery. It's been a ride.
QOTD: That's a tough one, but I think I'd stay with a job I love unless I could find one closer that I know I'd at least like. Having a job you hate for 8 hours a day is worse that a 4 hour commute where you can at least listen to some good music! That's my opinion anyway.
B: Decaf coffee and protein hot chocolate
L: Tuna, balsamic, peppers
D: Sirloin Steak, broccoli
S: String Cheese, leftover pork chop

Hello all -
10 days out from surgery and I feel like I'm doing really well.
QOTD: My last job my commute was literally under 5 minutes. I didn't realize how lucky I was until I got laid off (along with 23 other people- downsizing). The job I have now I have a 45 minute commute and I do not like it at all, especially in the winter. I work a 12 hour shift and I was away from my house 14 1/2 hours on the days I work. Now I am carpooling with a friend and her shift starts and ends an hour earlier than mine, so now I am away from home 15 1/2 hrs on the days I work. I am certainly glad that I normally only work 7 days out of a two week period. I am hoping to get moved much closer to my job in the next year or so. Hopefully only one more winter of commuting.

2.5 ounces triple zero Greek yogurt
1/2 cup blended Progresso light chicken and cheese enchilada soup
