What's on your Thursday Menu, RNYers?
My dr. was most definitely not a fan of me taking a fiber supplement. She wanted me to increase my fiber naturally. I started to eat some greens with extra virgin olive oil and garlic with dinner and it makes a big difference for me. I also take a probiotic and eat yogurt too.

oh my gosh...that's a hard one. Nothing is more soul killing than a crappy job. But a less-than-perfect job versus four hours commuting? I think I'd have to lose the commute, truly. I freaking detest traffic. We live in a relatively small town area, it takes us half an hour to 40 minutes to get anywhere when traffic is at it's worst, even now living out in the country. But if I'm stuck at a traffic light for a few minutes I get irritated. lol.
Scale moved today! Down 101 pounds, haha! I'll take it. Going to work to keep it moving, although we have some travels coming up, starting this weekend. Tomorrow we are driving to visit my oldest at her college.
Breakfast- 2 eggs with cheese and salsa
Lunch- leftover chicken breast, still...the dog will get to finish whatever is left of that batch tonight. And some leftover curtido from last night with it (spicy coleslaw).
Tea- protein bar
Dinner- I have a beef roast with some mexican seasoning in the crockpot for making shredded beef tacos tonight. Just the innards for me of course.

Nope, you are not crazy at all. I would kill myself if I had to spend 4 hours a day commuting - DC is bad enough, but you're surrounded by M******** lol. The few times I have driven around Boston have involved fist-shaking, swearing and perhaps a middle finger was once thrown (and I am talking about all of this going on in my car lol). So bless you for spending 20 hours a week commuting...I think it would be the death of me :( I have a job working from home, which is becoming more and more common these days with all of the technology we have available. I don't miss commuting in the least. My job is not the most rewarding job I have ever had, but I can do things like go to Wegman's at 8:30 am or sweep the floor mid-morning while listening to a call or slice cucumbers while I chat with my boss on the phone or hit the gym at 2 pm for "lunch"...leaving my evenings and weekends for me to actually enjoy. Now that I have experienced this flexibility, I don't think I can ever accept a 40+ hour a week job in an office. No harm in seeing what is out there, right? You may find a very fulfilling role that is partly remote which could be great. Though I see you do great things for your group of schools, so they will be very sad if they were ever to lose you!

Have a wonderful day, all!
Good morning, menu friends! It's sunny and windy here with a small bit of chill in the air. Services for my husband's aunt are tomorrow....if you can call them services. His aunt was an odd character, for sure. So, we're doing an hour-long family visitation at the local funeral home and having lunch at the community center in the very small town she lived in about 15 minutes away. She wouldn't have wanted to be in a box, and "damn sure wouldn't want a bunch of people fussing over" her, so this is the way that it is. Period. End of story! Seriously, she wrote that in a letter to her husband over a year ago so he had proof for their only remaining child, so their son wouldn't be pushing for lengthy services, etc. She's a hoot, even after her passing!
So, I was in a sort of funk yesterday. Husband wanted to sit and chat about it, and I fessed up to being so frustrated with the stall, feeling bloated, not being able to go, things that were going on with me, etc. This morning, I'm over it. I get up, foggy morning state, go to bathroom, go to step on scale, normal morning routine things. MY SCALE IS GONE!!! Sometime in the middle of the night, DH removed it from bathroom, and I can't find it anywhere. Commence warpath!!! He thinks it's for my own good, mental health wise, but it's really not at all healthy for him to be in so much danger! I know he has good intentions, but damn! Then, the bottle of Miralax out of medicine cabinet is sitting in a coffee cup on the counter waiting on me. Jerk.
QOTD: For a job I loved, I would commute. I'm not sure how far I would go, though. I mean, from home to the nearest bigger city is about an hour and a half, and I could totally do that if I loved the job and the compensation was worth it. I have yet to find a job I love more than I love my kids, though. I used to commute, but it was only about 30 minutes each way, and I would drop my kids off at daycare about three minutes from my office, so I wasn't spending more time without the kids just to commute to work. Now, we live about five minutes from my office, and it works out for me. I also try really hard to get out of the office by five and home by no later than 5:30 when there are errands to be run. I have been known to run errands and do grocery shopping during a lunch hour so I can be at home, spending time with my kids as soon as I am off work!

The only difference here is that I did not ask for this. I, in an off-the-cuff comment, asked whether he weighed this morning or not. He said, "No, Kandace. I didn't. You're not going to find the scale. It's not even in the house!" I asked when I could have it back, and he told me that next Wednesday would be my surgiversary, so I could get it back then. Jerk. I want it now and will plan on whining until I win this one.
I think Amazon's expensive scales are calling my name. I need one like they have in the doctor's office. Wonder how much that would run me? LOLOL

Good morning and happy almost Friday. I had a Dr. appointment yesterday and we went over the results of the 7 day glucose monitoring. She confirmed that I have Hypoglycemia and also that the test confirmed my Dumping Syndrome diagnosis. Will you all indulge a little rant about the Health Insurance System. I am lucky to have pretty great insurance. Yes, I pay for it, but all in all it's not too bad. The endocrinologist prescribed medication yesterday to try and alleviate my dumping symptoms. The prescription was sent electronically and when I went to pick it up, the clerk asked me if I knew how much it was. Apparently he thought it was expensive . . . and he was right . . . almost $400/month out of pocket for me. Can I cover that? Yes. Do I want to? No. I composed an email to my Dr. telling her thanks, but no thanks. When I got in this morning, I remembered goodrx.com and looked up the meds. I found a coupon for my pharmacy for $173 which is a hell of a lot better than $400, so I'll give it a shot. What depresses me the most about this whole situation . . . what if this medication was vital to someone who doesn't have "good" insurance and/or can't cover a $173 co-pay, let alone $400 a month. My fear is things are about to get sooooo much worse. Rant over.
JBQOTD - I've done both and I think I'd rather travel to a job I loved than be close to home, but loathe what I do. My longest commute was about 2 hours each way for a job I hated . . . I lasted 2 years before I gave my notice . . . by email . . . while crying . . . in my therapist's office.
My plan:
B: 2.5 oz ground turkey, 1 oz shredded cheese
L: either ham and cheese roll ups or a chicken breast from Pollo Loco
D: either ribeye steak or shrimp
S: skinny latte, light and fit, a protein bar made for diabetics that my endocrinologist wants me to try to see if it will keep my blood sugar steady. The stats aren't great . . . not horrible, but I agreed to be a guinea pig and it fits my macros . . . so
No totals given the prevalence of "or" in my menu,
if you don't me asking - what they prescribe for you and how that is going to help?
