What's on your Thursday Menu, RNYers?
Of course my day just got worse... got a formal "verbal warning" that I had to sign off on, on something I did in December that I can't remember for the life of me. I got that delivered after chatting with my boss for over 30 minutes about how hard it's been since I returned last Monday. This makes two days in a row that qualify as "Xanax days"
Oh I'm so sorry - that sucks!

Good morning,
QOTD I would like a job i love but i don't think i would like a 4 hr commute. That is hard.
B spinach, orange pepper, ham and cheese omelet and string cheese
L tuna and cottage cheese
D crack chicken and cabbage
S Greek yogurt, turkey sausage snack sticks and cutie orange
QOTD: There is so much to factor into that question. I have kids so a 4 hour commute would not work at all. Sometimes I have to get them when they are sick or have appointments. If I didn't have kids, it still depends. Money talks so I would have to make enough to make it worth my while commute wise. For example, I would commute farther if it allowed me to be able to afford to live on the beach/water or on some property where I could have horses. I might even work a crappy job with a long commute for those things . But it also depends on what the job is. I don't even know what the perfect job for me would be honestly. Working with dolphins or horses for 200k and a long commute? Sure!!! But ultimately, I rather spend less time commuting.
Food today: Chicken & chunky veggie soup (Tortilla soup without the tortillas) with zucchini, summer quash, carrots, tomatoes, celery & onions. I will eat that a few times throughout the day.
I am calling the surgeon today to scheduled my gallbladder removal. I'm so ready to get this ticking time bomb out of my body!!!

I've never had more than a 15 minute commute and can't imagine a long one. I think that would force me into early retirement.

QOTD -I had a three hour daily commute (90 min each way assuming good weather and no traffic issues) for about six years. The upside of the long commute was that I used the time to listen to NPR, or podcasts on my area of expertise (IT Security at the time), or books on tape. The significant down side was that I was also farming at the time and trying to get in two milkings a day while having to be off the farm for 12 hours min, made it hard on me and the Does! I switched jobs to a 15 minute commute and felt like I was working part time! HUGE difference.
I think the biggest impact on a long commute is the relative "ease" of the commute. If it's two hours sitting in a train where you can work, read, or otherwise spend your time productively that's the best possible option, then if it's two hours of driving and you have a car that will connect to bluetooth - you still have some quality time with either audio books or other educational/interesting audio only options like learning a language, listening to lectures, podcasts, NPR etc... However, if your commute is more challenging, like it requires changing trains or subway routes, complicated bus schedules, half drive half train, or just high traffic frustrating drives... all of that is a huge negative to me.
I just accepted a job two hours away from my current residence. I'm planning on moving to the city eventually, but in the mean time I'm going to stay with my sister during the week, then come home on the weekend. The new job is allowing me to work remote on Fridays, so once I'm settled into the job I'll probably drive home on Thursday nights. But "home" is a little problematic. I'm separated from my husband - he lives on our little farm and I've been sharing an apt with a coworker. For the next several months I'll still have the apt available, but after that my roommate is moving out of state.
And on to the days planned meals-
B- missed it again
MS - almonds
L- to be determined, but probably a Gyro from the shop down the street. It's another of my food funerals! They make the pitas fresh every day and your gyro is assembled in the warm from the oven pita. I'm almost weeping as I type this! (sad, I know!)
D- also bad? I'm taking my roommate to her dissolution hearing this afternoon, then we're going out for drinks afterwards, then I'm dropping her at the airport about an hour away, THEN I drive to my husband's place where I'm making chicken and dumplings for a group of friends. GAH!
