What's on your Thursday Menu, RNYers?

Good morning!

I'm trying again with yesterday's plan since I had to sub out a protein bar for lunch yesterday after getting trapped in a series of hospital waiting rooms for over 2 hours. I was lightheaded and really cranky by the time I dug it out of my glove box. I have one stashed in my purse now. I've learned my lesson.

Yesterday was super annoying. I had planned out my day so I could go to my 6 week follow up without taking time off work, but it didn't work out that way. I was sent to the lab at my clinic for blood work. I waited there for nearly 30 min before they told me they didn't have the right test tubes and I'd have to go to the hospital. I said where? They said lab first floor. I said same place I went before? (Here's where I should have been more specific). They said yes. So I ended up in preadmission testing for 2 hours before they figured out that they didn't have the right test tubes either and that I probably should have gone to the main lab to begin with!

QOTD long commute I think. I could make it work. Especially if that perfect job came with perfect pay for things like a dog walker.

Here's the plan:
B coffee with 2 oz premier protein
S half cup low fat cottage cheese
L veggie patty (morning star grillers prime)
S half cup Greek yogurt with vanilla protein powder
D 3 vegetarian bacon cheeseburger egg bites (modified eggface recipe) and a half cup pesto/vinaigrette bean salad

Totals I forgot to put everything in MFP yet but it's the same as yesterday.

Good Morning JB and everyone!

QOTD: since I had to retire due to health reasons, I don't deal with commuting now. However, several years ago, I took a position that required at least 3 hours driving a day...in winter it was a nightmare. After just one year, I decided the long drive was not worth it and gave my notice. Even after being offered a raise if I would stay, I just could not do it. I was always either driving back and forth to work or at work...just not worth it. It depends on the person and if the trade off is worth it. Personal choice and never an easy one so I feel for you JB.

Menu:

Breakfast: 2 eggs, 2 oz ham, 2 slices 2% American cheese

Lunch: 3 oz beef fajita meat, 1 cup lettuce, 2 T FF ranch dressing

Dinner: 4 oz baked chicken, skinless; 1 cup rice D veggies

Calories: 780

Weight today: 145.6

I sure don't want a 4 hour commute but for a perfect job-I don't know. That's a tough one for sure. Lily and I are getting ready to head out for our 3.2 miles here in a minute. Post op 4 years 6.75 months and weight at 117.4 today. Maintenance for plan is 1/2 c steel cut oats with protein and peanut butter added L 1/2 c shrimp salad 1/2 c diced tomatoes D 31/2 oz ground venison with salsa 1/2 c Santa Fe veggie blend S mission one chocolate brownie protein bar. Have a great day everyone and make some smart and conscious choices that move you one step closer to your goal!

Good morning everyone! My scale finally decided to move again. Even if a little, I am happy! It had been 20 days and only went up by 1.5 lbs but now it has went back down past the lowest. I basically lost 15ish pounds in the first 5 days after surgery then stalled. I think some of that lost was probably because I was dehydrated which is why it eventually went back up some. So I am at my lowest weight of my entire adult life 220.5 this morning. :D

QOTD: I guess it would depend on the length of the commute. I work at a middle school on the opposite end of the county than I live, but I love my job. There is a middle and high school within 2 miles of my house that I could work at, but I choose to drive across the county because I love my principal and my coworkers. But my "long" commute isn't very long 25 minute drive. My daughter is turning 4 at the end of next month and I am filling out her pre-K application and having to decide where to put her. I think I am going to put her on this end of the county with me. Once I make that decision I will be staying for the next 15 years at least!

Yesterday's menu changed some because I did get sick for the first time. I think I may have ate too fast!

Menu:

m1- protein shake with fair life milk (28g, 160 cal)

m2- 1 oz shrimp (8g, 60 cal)

m3- premier protein (30g, 160)

m4- babybel cheese (6g, 50 cal)

m5 1 oz shrimp (8g, 60 cal)

Totals: 80g, 490 cal

Have a great day!

FYI (maybe it's just me) by t shrimp is a tough food to get down. It's dry and you need to chew it a zillion times to get it soft. I might try a softer white fish if you got sick.

Congrats on the new low weight! You are doing great!

It was actually chicken that I got sick on yesterday. Which I have ate many times already and did fine. But I ate faster than usual, so I think that was what it was. Shrimp actually has worked both times I have ate it before, but I do have a sauce on it to keep it moist.

Chicken is a tough food as often, especially if it's breast meat,it can be dry. I have switched to thighs instead of breast meat and even then sometimes I feel not so stellar after I eat it. And I absolutely cannot reheat it. I have to make sure to eat very slowly with some sort of sauce and really chew the heck out of it even at 41/2 years out. If I don't I won't get sick but I'll be so miserable I'll wish I would!

I agree, reheated chicken is the worst!

Good Morning GrimBerry and Menu Family!

QOTD: That's a really hard question. It's really important to be doing something for work that you truly love, but I can't imagine having to deal with a really long commute. I'm so lucky that all the jobs I've had were ones I truly loved and had nearly NO commute. And I love that I'm on Disability now and am "retired".

B: bacon & spinach egg frittata

L: chicken & wild rice soup

D: homemade chili

S: light n fit Greek yogurt

S: prosciutto & mozzarella sticks

Exercise: Walking Blossom around the subdivision

Have a fantastic day everyone!
