What's on your Wednesday Menu, RNYers?
Ugh, cold here in DC too! I got out for a walk last night, with the knowledge that the cold was coming. But it will be 75 here on Sat - I hope you warm up as well!
Funny that you ask about recess - my BF's 11 year old son constantly has dirty socks, holes in the knees of his pants, and broken glasses...thanks to recess! I mean don't get me wrong, I am glad he is being active...but recess is getting very expensive ;)
Time Since Surgery: 3 years 3 months
B: Coffee with cream; AmyLu andouille chicken sausage from Costco - so YUM
L: Thai red curry sauce with chicken and snow peas
D: Restaurant tonight, after we see a house to rent - will probably get a crab cake!
E: None, due to house-hunting
Have a great day, all!
Yeahhhh...I wi**** was better than it is...I like to say we have caviar taste on a pizza budget ;) The places we love are out of our price range and this area is SO competitive that no one brings their prices down. Then you have to factor in location since traffic is a bi*ch and it can feel pretty overwhelming. I know we will find a place, but I am apparently more of a control freak than I thought and I want to know where I am living NOW. We have to move in six weeks so we will make a decision soonish :)
I seriously patched the insides of my son's pants during a certain age range... I couldn't afford to buy him new jeans every time I turned around! I think he hated it, but I don't think I scarred him for life with the patches

LOL that is sooooo tempting, but I can't bring myself to do it (who wants to be the evil stepmother haha). That being said, I have threatened that we will make him tape his glasses like my mom made my brother do - he spent the better part of his teens wearing taped glasses - and now I see why - these frames are $50 and we need new ones every other month! My BF asked if they make kids' rubber glasses frames and I laughed at him, but now that I am going to pick up the fourth frame since school started in September, I think I might want to investigate...
Honestly, when I patched them on the inside, I would kind of pull them back together just before I ironed them, and from the outside it wasn't all that noticeable...

Good morning guys and gals. I've had a rough morning. I am trying not to whine, but I just HAVE to tell you how crazy it's been because it's actually a bit absurd how nuts it was. Hubby is home, foot in a cast, but his pain is good and he's in good humor. I was running a little behind today because I was making sure that he was all set up for the day, and I had to get my kiddo together and out the door. I normally leave my house at 6:30, but I got home after 9pm yesterday because I had to go pick my little one up from my moms. I really wanted to leave him there to stay the night, since I didn't get to him until after 8pm and he just went back there this morning, but when I called there when we left the hospital, he was crying and saying he wanted to come home. I'm a big softy. Anyway, this morning I left at 7:30, rushing out the door to drop my kiddo off at my moms and then head in to the office. I realized, when I got off of the freeway to go to my moms, that I had forgotten my laptop at home. So, after dropping my kiddo off, I had to drive 30 minutes back home, away from my work, to get my laptop. So, I get home, check on my hubby, refill his water and coffee for him. I then refill my coffee and run out the door... without my laptop. Luckily I caught it only a few miles from home and was able to run back and get it. I left my house at 7:30 this morning and didn't get to wor****il 9:45.
JBQOTD: Honestly, I was kinda a loner in grade school. I had a rough childhood, and spent a lot of time by myself reading on the play ground. It's funny, a girl the grew up down the street from me, who is a few years younger than I am, told me about 5 years ago that I was the reason she loves to read so much. She said when she was in 1st grade, she used to see me sitting on the play ground reading a book while everyone else was running and playing. She said she knew that reading had to be something important if I was spending so much time doing it, and that it made her want to read as well. She is an avid reader now. Funny, the things we don't even see. I used books as my escape as a child (and still do, in a way) and it had an effect on others.
19.75 months since surgery
B: 2 eggs, 1oz of shredded mozzarella and coffee with sugar free coffeemate
L: a can of tuna and Velvetta shells and cheese cup (180 calories)
D: No idea, I haven't even thought that far ahead. I have plenty of food in the house, so I'll make something for us.
S: 16 turkey pepperoni and 2 laughing cow cheese wedges. I don't know if I'll eat them all, but I brought them and logged them, so there is that.
Totals without dinner
calories 647 Protein 61 Carbs 39 Fat 29
Now, if I can keep my dinner protein forward, we should be all set.
BTW, my oldest is joining the robotics club after school today. I'm really excited for him to get into this club, even if it's at the end of the year. I hope he'll be involved with it next year as well.
Oh my goodness, what a morning. I don't know if I could have made it back out the door to go to work the second time I went back for the laptop. I think I would have said ok that does it I'm going back to bed...lol
