What's on your Monday Menu, RNYers?
We use ground venison to make "venison Italian sausage" mild and hot. We do add in a SMALL amount of pork fat for flavor and moisture as venison is usually very lean, and if there is any venison fat we toss it. I don't like the strong, gamey taste.
I like to mix a different variety of ground meats together, with added eggs and a small amt bread crumbs for binder to make meat loaf or meatballs. The carbs are there, but divided down into our small portion the % is low.

Good morning. Bucket list - well, I guess flying again would be nice. Just to walk across the concourse and actually fit in a seat. I will enjoy that day. But the more exciting item would be that I'd like to get back to running. So I too target a 1/2 marathon. I probably will never do a marathon again, so I would like to do the local March madness run.
B - Gyro omelette left over from brunch yesterday (about 1/2 cup)
L - Chicken stir fry
D - Seafood medley with marinara over veggies
S - Premier banana shake and Ostrim Buffalo Chicken Jerky
Good Morning (OMG I'm posting before dinner time!)
QOTD - My official NSG is to be able to mount an average sized horse, from the ground. I've been riding more this past year than I have in the previous decade, but I need to either use a mounting block, tree stump, or someone has to shove my FA up into the saddle. I'm heading back to Egypt in the fall and I want to be able to remount the mare I ride without assistance! It could be a long walk through deep sand if I can't get back on after a fall...
As for an activity - definitely kayaking! I tried this a few years ago and it turns out I'm actually really good at it! But the entire time I was paddling away I was so aware that my butt was "snapped" into the kayak that if I overturned I'd be dead! (Fighting to get my hips out would be so much harder as I would be floating up into the kayak too!)
Last week I posted a photo of my dear friend, Mrs. Figg, who passed away on the 12th, I thought I'd post another here, of Mrs. Figg with HER bff, Lexie. Lexie is the daughter my bff, and for a year while my department was on a reduced work schedule, Lexie came to my farm to help me with the chores on Fridays. Lexie and Mrs. Figg were basically attached most of the time she was with us.

My daughter had her 21st birthday over the weekend. My dad flew up from San Francisco to take us all to dinner... I was the designated driver so they could drink. Can I just whine for a minute to say that restaurants cause a lot of anxiety for me right now. I have no idea what to order, and no idea whether it will work. I finally chose rare flank steak, which was not such a good choice. But the anxiety is overwhelming. Then they bring bread, everyone is watching me, it is waaay too much food. My sister tried to dump the bread basket on my plate so I could take it home with me. I had to actually hold my hands over my plate to keep her from piling the bread on. And then I did not take the meal home... I knew I would not eat the steak. I know to order protein. I know to stay away from bread. I know not to drink. But it is just very stressful and I would much rather not eat out.
Then my mother made cheesecake, a wonderful homemade cheesecake. I did have a tiny sliver, figure about 100 calories. I wish I dumped, but no such luck. At least it is over with and she is taking it back to school with her.
Have a great day everyone!

I totally agree that restaurants are overwhelming in the first year!
I tend to order off the appetizer menu as often as possible. It is a much smaller portion and 99% of the time there are several protein forward options like tuna tartare or scallops. I've never had a waiter bat an eyelash when I asked for the appetizer as my meal.
Good job swatting away that bread :)
I do the same thing! I've found some really tasty appetizers that I would have never thought of before.

Ya flank steak was not a good choice. Fish is still very difficult for me if it is at all dry. JB's idea of an appetizer is good for me, I think. I will keep at it but hopefully no need to go out for a while ;)

I have been going to restaurants since month 2 about once a week. I almost always order off the appetizer menu, usually fish like scallops, shrimp or crab cakes. And often take home leftovers. Not a big deal once you get used to just reading the appetizer list. If I can't find anything on that, I'll get a burger with no bun, substitute vegetables for fries, and cut off what I can eat (bring the rest home).
Edited to add that if I can I often scan the menu online ahead of time to make my choice.

Good Morning. Why are the weekends never long enough?? Sigh. I'm judging First Year oral arguments at my Law School tonight. I've done it every year for close to 10 years. It's fun to see the new students. They come in two main types . . . those who walk in the room visibly shaking and those who believe they're God's gift to the legal profession and oral advocacy. I show compassion for the first group and lob softball questions, but the second group . . . no mercy for them. The second group is the one that makes the night fun.
JBQOTD - I'm pretty boring too. The Los Angeles Marathon was yesterday and I got a pang of jealousy (not really jealousy . . . but the English language is escaping me at the moment) seeing the runners. I think to myself "shouldn't the marathon be my next goal??" So, I guess that would be it, although to be honest, I like half marathons and don't know if I have it in me to do a full.
My plan: I'm still waiting to hear from the endocrinologist, and I've felt pretty lousy for the past few days, so I'm on a self imposed AMAW-C and will again go to very small portions.
B: 2 oz of turkey and cheese
L: 1.8 of rib eye
D: totally up in the air. They feed us prior to judging rounds, so it depends on what they serve. Either something there, or I have a bacon cheddar burger that I can cook when I get home
S: 4oz fairlife milk, maybe a skinny latte if I have time to stop on my way downtown
No totals since dinner is up in the air.
