Question for the vets re: bread

I know most if not all are against eating bread. However, I found this protien bread which I keep frozen until I use it because it is 4.00 a loaf and a loaf is 6 slices and they are thin like weigh****chers bread. However I love it! Makes an amazing roast beef sandwhich. Of course because of the price it is not like I will be having a sandwich every day. But do you think once a week would be ok to have two slices of this bread. I have put a pic of the bread and the nutritional values below. I await your response.

I should also add I am pre-op. I am trying to get use to the new lifestyle and start eating what I should be eating post op.

Six months before surgery I gave up bread. No white bread, no wheat bread, no protein bread, no bread at all. It is one of the major reasons that I was so successful in my weight loss and maintenance.

The stuff you are looking at feels like a magic solution. I can have my bread and still be getting my protein, but it is not. This stuff will be a slippery slope that will slow your progress considerably.

I see myself as an alcoholic whose addiction is carbs. I cannot have even a little bread without risking going back to obesity. I also do not eat potatoes, rice, cereal, pasta, noodles, sugar, cake, pies, cookies or ice cream.

I have learned to be very happy and content with dense protein and non-starchy vegetables. Anytime I am tempted, I look around me at all the overweight people and then I look at my size 4 jeans and remember when they were size 24.

I posted on another forum and rec'd the same responses. Basically no bread until goal or close to goal. I do take the advice of vets very seriously because they walk the walk. So...no bread it is!

Thank you for your responses. I do appreciate them.

If I'm going to have something bread like I will usually do 1/2 of a flatout wrap.

No I don't think what you have is a deal breaker, I liken this to the same lines of protein chips which are about in the same range.

IF you are early out from surgery I would just stay away till you are at goal though.

My personal opinion

Very good stats for a bread. 2 slices would be a lot for a post op. I'm 5.5 months out and eat around 200-230 calories in a meal. If you have it, it will likely be one slice cut in half with a meat of your choice.

This Will probably be fine unless it triggers cravings. Some people need to avoid processed foods because they are trigger foods other don't have that issue.

You just have to figure out which camp you fall into. Bread is allowed in my plan. I just don't eat it because I prefer other things. Like fruit veggies and oats.

My voice would scream NO. Toast and I are fighting buddies. I wish I never ate the first piece. It was fancy ordered high protein bread.

I would eat a half a slice. Once a month. A few years after surgery. Not two slices, and not right away.

It's a nice protein source, but so is a lot of other stuff that wouldn't tip me over my allowed carbs for the day.
