What's on your Saturday menu, RNYer?
Welcome to the weekend menu crew!
JB asked me to kick off the weekend menu thread. I'm happy to!
I hope everyone who celebrated yesterday had a fun, safe time!
for anyone following the menu thread this week, you may recall I went on a promising interview. Well, I got the job! And I start Monday, yikes! So,
QOTD: what's your best advice for keeping on plan with a busy schedule? What do you prioritize? Are you a meal prepper? Do you have a favorite product? How do you make sure you hit your water targets?
I already rely on my phone to remind me about taking my vitamins, anyone else use alarms or apps to stay on track? I'm not going to make any gym plans the first week, so I can focus on figuring out a new routine. I haven't worked in a formal office setting in 5 years! I'm a bit nervous about that, and the fact that my role never formally existed before. It's also kind of weird going into a setting where no one knows I had wls.
What's your plan for the day?
We're heading to Montreal today to see the Lumineers! I think I'll do a little bit of shopping. I literally have 2 outfits that are office appropriate and fit, and I wore one for the interview! I'll try to pick a few versatile pieces to get me through spring and early summer.
Menu:
B: protein shake
L/D: tbd, on when and where we end up in Montreal.
Have a great weekend everyone!

Congrats on the job!! I am just so happy to be working again!
qotd, I do use alarms for my vitamins or I would never remember to take them! I have never had a problem with getting my fluids in, but since I started my job I have gone back to having a protein shake at my break time on the days I work or I wouldn't get my protein in because I would just skip that meal. My husband is a great cook and always makes sure to cook me an appropriate meal on work days.

Good morning everyone. Congrats on the job, Insert Fitness!
QOTD: Being retired since 2007 due to health issues my schedule is pretty much my own but my advice would be to plan ahead to stay on track. I am not a great meal planner but try to make sure I have appropriate options available. I have my ice water with me constantly throughout the day and try to hit 32 oz by noon and over 64 oz by 9 pm. I am really good at drinking my water, probably because I have alway drank lots of water since I was a kid. Love it!
I am getting my fitness pal back to keep track of my calorie intake. As far as vitamins, I take Bariatric Fusion plus additional Vitamin D and get them all in during breakfast and lunch.
My plan today is to work on my kitchen backsplash project in between watching my March Madness basketball games...huge Syracuse Orange fan..men and women.
Menu:
Breakfast: 1 scrambled egg with 1 oz ham
Lunch: 3 oz tunafish
Dinner: 3 oz chicken with 1/2 cup cauliflower rice

Nothing Tastes as Good as Healthy Feels!
Congratulations on the new job! And great QOTD - we will all benefit from sharing!
I'm leaving for 2 weeks in Florida today. DH has been there for 6 weeks now (I drove down with him and stayed for the first 2 weeks, then came home). I will drive the car home with DH the first weekend in April. My eating has been WAY off plan for the last couple of days while "celebrating" my birthday (mostly at home alone after wine). Time to stop the wine and the over-eating! Traveling actually helps because I have to pre-package meals.
QOTD: I use the timer on my phone AND on my work calendar to remind me when to take vitamins (6 times a day to spread the iron out from the calcium). I always keep a water bottle with me and sip constantly. I use an app on my phone called Bariatric timer to remind me when I can drink again after meals. I have all my food pre-packaged and ready the night before. I also have a plan B for food meetings. Usually for those, there are sandwiches so I can just eat the meat and cheese. Yesterday, I found out that the food was going to be pizza. I hadn't packed anything, so got a scoop of tuna salad from the cafe to have instead of the pizza. I have 2 meals plus 1-2 snacks planned every day and try to eat more or less on a schedule as I do at home (breakfast around 8; snack 1/breakfast 2 around 10 if needed; lunch around noon; snack 2 around 2-3). Edited to add that I track everything with MFP, every day.
B: eggbeaters and cottage cheese
L: leftover veal parm (before I travel)
D: sliced turkey and cheese rolls
S: protein bar or chips

Thanks! And I totally forgot about office food. It will be interesting to see what kind of culture this place has, regarding meetings etc... I forgot how carby work food usually is...

QOTD: I do all the same planning, packing, and logging Liz does for work. I haven't done reminders like that for my vitamins, though, because I have them in those weekly pill sorters in my lunchbox and just have them when I have breakfast and lunch (and dinner and when I first wake up, but that's at home).
For work food, when it comes to a tasty treat in there to share and for me to gaze at longingly every time I go in to get my stuff from the fridge... I keep my food with me at my desk in a lunch box with a cold pack. Then I have the option of avoidance if I need it.
Ive also just started bringing more than one water bottle with me because I find I drink more if I don't have to take the extra step of refilling while I'm busy at work.

Good morning! Yay for the dream job! So excited for you!!! I started my current job post op, and it was great that I never had people know my "before". I still lost a lot after I started, but it was not as dramatic and people view me as a fit person here (and assume I always have been). I haven't found a need to correct then, yet ;)
I had the best /worst day yesterday... Still reviewing from the highs and lows! Today we are off to do a food packaging event, then see my parents and go to the movies. Tomorrow is more snow. Maybe 6". UGH when will this winter end??
EDIT: forgot QOTD. I do much better when I spend significant time on the weekend not just making food for the week, but also weighing it and packing my small portions out for the week. I can be pretty sure that I can grab any combo of meals and snacks and be within 150 calories. I used my phone alarm for the first 6 months to remind me about vitamins and food and water. Then I switched to patches and got better about remembering to eat and drink so I stopped. I started with the alarm just for food again when I found myself eating all my packed food before noon. The alarm helped me space it out and get in a better schedule.
20 months post op/119lbs today/maintenance diet
B: fit frappe protein coffee and probably a big old iced coffee
S: almonds and Babybel cheese
L: Cheeseburger (no bun)
S: movie popcorn!
D: ?
Have a great day!
Thanks! I'm still surprised how quickly it all came together! Big changes coming!

Happy Saturday Menu Family!!! The Lumineers I am jealous, I love them I have fun! Today my daughter heads back to DC it is one of those sad to see her go but glad to put the house back in order feelings the past week was crazy. During the snow storm on we had six late teen early twenty's camped out here which was fine but boy the topics of conversations certainly have changed from when they were 9 and 10 to now and the board games they play did to.
We might try to get some more shopping in before my daughter gets on the plane I can never buy her enough clothes but when we go to move her to her new apartment in a couple of months I will complain about where did you get all these clothes oh well she not a woman for nothing right?
Other than trying to squeeze in all my Sunday chores today (I have been up since 4:30, could not sleep) since I am going into the office tomorrow.
QOTD: I use my phone or computer for everything. Home, work you name it and use both of these items to help with pretty much every aspect of my life I can not imagine what live would be without them.
Food for the day:
B: Hard Boiled egg white, coffee
L: We will probably eat out so not sure
D: Leftovers need to clean out the fridge so something protein forward.
Have a wonderful Saturday!
