I really hope we don't slip too far and that she is inspired by me to keep going. I think I will leave the weight/WLS topic up to her and get back to connecting over other things.

How much we lose also depends how big we are at starting point. If she was smaller than you - then she could lose less weight but % will be the same.

But whatever you do - if you get smaller than she is - don't try to give her your "fat clothes" because they are too big of you. Unless she ask for them. And even then - be very careful how you handle that.

That's rough. I feel this way with my best friend but I don't bring it (weight) up to her and I think she appreciates it. She did not have WLS but she is at her heaviest. I would not be where I am today without OH. Maybe see if your sister will join us! I am very pleased with my weightloss at 7 months but I know for a fact that I would not have lost this much without my OH family.

I feel the same way. It seems so simple now, but without OH, I would not have lost as much either. I will bring it up to her if the opportunity arises naturally. I'm going to let her be the weight loss topic 'driver'.

Sorry but I think you sound totally competitive and not really very understanding towards her. It isn't a competition and a year from now if you both get to where you need to be then it's all good. I have noticed that we tend to be very "all about me" during this period of the "honeymoon". If she isn't making "good choices" in her diet then that is her decision. After all, she is 6 months ahead of you and had a different surgery. Of course her weight loss now will be less as she is further down the road. She also doesn't get the added malabsorption benefit that RNY gives.

I think you are handling it exactly the right way - just don't bring it up unless she mentions it. It's so clear that you love your sister, and I'm sure that's a 2 way street - so no matter how well you both do, you will get through this.

Sending you big hugs!
