Twas the Night Before Surgery

A little silliness before I head off to bed....I have to be at the hospital at 8:30am so it will be an early morning

Twas the night before surgery, when here in our house
I tried to relax while my stomach...it groused
It gurgled and grumbled and called me mean names
but I was committed, this wasn't a game

I'd given i****er, broth, a popsicle
But given it's griping it's clearly quite fickle
I plied it with jello and later some tea
Lastly some juice, but just sugar free

But it didn't matter, my stomach - it howled
It cried and it screamed (it's really quite loud)
I finally gave in, and mixed up a drink
My stomach rejoiced, but it's not what you think

Instead of something tasty, cold and delicious
This stuff tasted like dirty old water from dishes.
They swear that it's orange (I think they're all liars)
It tastes worse than socks that were boiled with old tires

I gagged it all down, because I will not be beaten
Even though it is probably the worst thing I've eaten
I'm kidding of course, there are foods that are worse
There's liver and, okra and blue cheese of course.

But I digress, It's time for some sleep
Tomorrow will come, I've a schedule to keep
I feel well supported, and very well prepped
This hasn't been easy, there are so many steps.

So thank you to all of you, both at home and found here
You've all been so helpful, that much is clear
Now this poem is silly, and so it is done
Sweet dreams to you all, my journey has begun!

I have to drink another round of it 2 hours before I arrive....I'm considering plugging my nose while I do it

The drink they made me drink the night before and morning of was "grape"....and trust me it was terrible as well...although I was not creative enough to give it it's own poem! LOL :)

I can't remeber what it stands for so I say Gross-Ewww-Disgusting!
