What's on your Tuesday Menu RNYers?
Blizzard is here, my office is closed, and I'm home all day. I'm moving in a month and I need to stop procrastinating dealing with my stuff. But... I have clothes in like 5 sizes I don't want to get rid of because I don't know what I'll need next and I don't want to be buying new clothes I won't wear for very long....
I'm a terrible singer, but I sing when I'm alone. Or to my cat or dog. Usually with some weird lyric substitutions to personalize the songs for my pets....
since I'm not working today I made a modified eggface protein mini-muffin recipe for breakfast
B almond mocha mini-muffins with ricotta/torani "frosting"/moistener
S 1/2 cup low fat cottage cheese
L bacon cheeseburger egg bites (made with veggie bacon and veggie crumble)
S 1/2 cup fat free plain Greek yogurt with 1/2 banana
D leftover cauliflower crust pizza
calories: 725; protein 65
this is the first plan I've made that's all solid food. Seems a bit low on protein. Maybe I should sub a shake for one of my snacks?
almond mocha mini-muffins with ricotta/torani "frosting"/moistener ?!?! Sounds delish! Can you post the recipe or send it to me in PM?
This I've got to try!

I started with eggface's coffee donuts recipe and made some substitutions and changes based on what I have available.
http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/2010/08/coffe e-donuts.html?m=1
so, first of all I didn't have a mini donut pan so I used a mini muffin pan. I didn't have instant coffee so I just brewed some coffee and used it instead of water. I used chocolate flavored torani and Dutch chocolate isopure whey protein.... ok. So after that list of substitutes it may just be easier to re-do the recipe...
1 cup almond meal
half cup chocolate protein powder (about 1.5 scoops of the isopure)
1 tsp. Baking powder
3 tbs. chocolate torani syrup
1 egg beaten
1 tbs. canola oil
1/4 cup coffee
mix. Bake at 325 for 8 min in mini muffin tin sprayed with pam.
i mixed up 2 tbs part skim ricotta with 1.5 tsp chocolate torani syrup to dip my muffins in. I found them a bit dry, but I think my almond meal was a little old.
The way I made them it was 135 cal for 3, 8.5 grams protein, plus 45 cal and 3 g protein for the ricotta.
I plan to freeze at least half for later.
When I was early out I added all kinds of things to plain Greek yogurt - onion soup mix, tikka masala paste for savoury and vanilla protein powder with cinnamon for a sweet fix.
Musing protein powder as an additive can give you the extra protein but still allows for real (ish) food instead of shakes. Just an idea!

Yes me too! I made yogurt and ricotta a base for all kinds of savory things including curry, pesto, etc. My favorite was red chile flakes and mint. There are a bazillion things to do with that base if you are sick of sweet things when you are on soft foods.
You inspired me to ditch the banana with my yogurt and add a scoop of vanilla protein powder and a little pumpkin pie spice. It came out nice and smooth. I'm not usually a yogurt stirrer, though. I like it in its natural state... maybe if I stir ahead of time and then leave in the fridge for a while it will get firm again?
I had best results using Fage Greek yogurt. Full fat. It's amazing. And yes. If you mix it up and let it sit (during your shower or while u enjoy coffee etc) it takes in the flavours and will be smooth and creamy!
I don't know how you can even eat a banana! I would be sicker than a dog :/
Too much sugar. Too many calories too. I can't eat fruit (a few grapes or blueberries maybe) as I am very sensitive to sugar, sugar alcohol or substitutes.
For someone as early out as you are I'd concentrate on protein. Always protein. Maximum protein for least amount of calories to maximise weight loss during this, the absolute easiest part of your WL experience. Just my opinion of course.
