I know a few members have a Himalayan Salt Plate. Can you tell me how you like it and the kind of foods you have cooked with it? Is it worth the money? I have been thinking about getting one. Please do tell!

I like it a lot. I just leave it on the grill.

So far I've only cooked various kinds of steak on it. I'm not sure that it imparts a flavor to the meat or not. If it does, it's subtle. I still salt my steak as I eat it.

It does change the way the meat cooks, and I like it. It keeps the meat from direct flame, so it cooks more evenly. In a way, it's like cooking in a skillet. But because the salt block is porous, it doesn't simmer in it's own juices.

I like it a lot.

I had one someone gave me almost 2 years ago for my birthday... I have yet to use it, and I feel like a complete failure because of it.

I have heard/read that you can use them almost like a fondue, in that once you heat it up, you can use it at the table to cook small pieces of meat/seafood on it individually...

I'm an overachiever, and I keep trying to figure out how to use it on my wooden table without burning it!

I imagine it would be too hot to leave on the table. I wouldn't want to sit near it. But that's just a guess.

After it's been used to cook steaks several times, it gets infused with the fat drippings. If you use it on the grill at night in the dark, the flames below make it translucent, and it looks like it's glowing. Very pretty.

I really need to pull it out, unwrap it, and get on with business! Lol

Night flames sounds interesting... That could possibly entertain me for longer than it should

I saw some in the grocery store today. Never even heard of it.

They also had it ground up as well.
