Issues with red meat
Does anyone else have issues with red meat? I have tried just about everything. I chew and chew and chew! For whatever reason I just can't handle it anymore. Doesn't matter how it's prepared or what kind of sauce I have with it to moisten it up, I just can't handle it anymore. My pouch gets so cranky at me now, almost like whatever I've swallowed is getting stuck in there. Ground beef doesn't seem to be an issue though. Why is this? I've been chewing everything else until it's pretty much babyfood. It just doesn't add up haha. thoughts, anyone?
I can only eat filet migeon grilled. Most other steak is too tough. I did not eat any red meat for the first four months after surgery.
If I cook with most red meats, I prepare it in a pressure cooker until it falls apart on its own. I will use it in pot roast, soup or stew. I do the same with chicken. Some people eat ribeye grilled.
Grim Traveler is a big meat eater and can tell you more about choosing and preparing red meats.
I absolutely cannot eat any meat if it has been warmed in the microwave. If I warm leftovers, I have to do it the old fashioned way with a pot on the stove.

Real life begins where your comfort zone ends
Yeah, I'm not a microwave user either. Totally on the same page with you there! I think for now I'm just going to take a break from the red meats until I can figure out what my issue is. I'm not crazy about tough, chewy things so I try to get it as tender as possible but I'm just not handling it well for some reason :(
Red meat is really broad. What specific kinds and cuts have you tried, and how did you cook them? There are a gazillion different options. And really, ground beef is usually one of the more difficult types to handle well, so you're ahead of the game there.

We made caribou sausage about a month ago and I had the tiniest piece of that. It didn't go well. I tried to make little pickle and cheese rolls with sandwich roast beef, little pieces of steak and last night I tried pot roast. Every time it just doesn't sit well. I really dislike the grisly fat parts so maybe it's because the cuts I tend to lean toward are not as juicy and are drier than other cuts? I've tried adding light sauces or juices and it doesn't seem to solve anything. Usually we grill or smoke our meats but the pot roast we did in a slow cooker.
If it doesn't work right now, just take a break and try again in a few weeks. I am the opposite. I have no problem with steak, or salmon...but only an ounce of chicken or shrimp, as well as ground beef, sit really heavy and are troublesome for me.

I wonder if something is wrong with me cause I'm 5 mos out and can eat any kind of meat no problem and I rarely if ever feel like I have to stop I just stop cause I've eaten what I should. I hope at least that changes. I'd take a break from red meat for a month and then try again though.

Yeah, that's my plan. I'm not a huge red meat eater anyway. Probably only had it four times since my surgery 3 mo ago. I figured I'd maybe been eating too fast or not chewing enough but time after time seems to turn out the same so I'm just gonna be done with it for now. I think you're right and that it's a good idea. At least I still have chicken and fish haha!
I haven't tried any beef yet and pork just in the last week. The pork went down really well. For some weird reason the hardest thing for me has been fish. I am really looking forward to trying beef. Maybe this week. I also have a hard time with reheated microwave food. At work I don't have a choice but what works is to not heat it too much. It may not be as hot as I usually like my food but at least it doesn't get stuck.
